There is football. It's called the AAF (Alliance of American Football) and it premiered this weekend with nearly three million viewers on CBS. There are ten teams with rosters that have 81% of the players with some sort of NFL experience.

It has been said there are only two seasons in sports: football season and waiting for football season.

Today I did a little work; worked on a post, followed-up on some to-dos, made some calls, then I went for a hike for hours in the woods with hubby, then went shopping for new cabinets for our kitchen, then read the paper and did the crossword, then made my homemade pizza dough, then made pizza (later), then cooked it and ate it, drank some wine and am now going to watch a movie on on-demand. But there was football on Sunday, Saturday too.  The Alliance of American Football began play this past weekend.  I watched a bit of a game Sat evening.  It was interesting to see some former college players who are still trying to get their shot in the NFL.  The league has hired some "name" coaches - Mike Martz, Steve Spurrier, Mike Singletary, Rick Neuheisel, Dennis Erickson, Mike Riley.  All of these coaches have major college and NFL experience.  All players have a 3-year, non-guaranteed contract for $250k, plus health insurance and an education stipend.  The league was started by Bill Polian, former NFL exec with Indianapolis, and a TV executive.  I hope it works.
