I would definitely seek the assistance of a CPA or tax attorney who specialize in real estate.
Good luck!

The only state laws you'll need to know are all of them! As to the rest, I suggest getting a competent business attorney and business CPA in a room together to hash it all out.

Sorry. You will need to spend a few dollars to consult with the experts (attorneys AND accountants) to determine the structure that best meets your situation.
Their big question will be, will their EVER be subordinate agents within the brokerage.
If the answer is NO, you may have options that are BETTER than being a broker in multiple states. Your business model and the advise of the experts will be more actionable than AR answers.

I can't advise nor opine on these questions. I'm not a tax lawyer, I'm not a financial advisor, I'm not a tax accountant. You need to bring those questions to the appropriate professionals in your state(s).

First, you need multiple real estate broker licenses, one for each state where you want to do business. Believe the only legal entity you need is one, has to be in your home state. You should check with your local accountant or lawyer and then may need to check with each individual state. Just FYI, for referral business all you need is a license from your home state.

Check with the Secretary of State or Division of Corporations. You may also check with your CPA as that person will need to cover you with the proper tax filings
