Everything I do is legal - and, on occasion, I have overflow work to do on Sundays.

I facilitated ratification of 2 Contracts yesterday. I don't think any of the 4 parties involved would have taken too kindly to me saying we'd have to wait until tomorrow (today) - especially for the buyers with multiple Offers involved.

What kind of legal work are you talking about? People do what they have to do. As Jesus said: "who of you would not save your animal if it fell into a well on the Sabbath?".

Not sure what you are referring to? Formal legal work? It would be good if illegal work is not performed then, or anytime for that matter.

What does Sunday have to do with legal work? If legal work shouldn't be done on Sundays, does that mean no work of any kind should be performed on Sundays?

Define "legal work"...your question is too ambiguous.

That said, I do not discriminate and respect the fact that Sunday is not the Sabbath for everyone. Sunday is not a day of worship for Seventh Day Adventists and those who are Jewish.

It's up to a person's taste.  Personally, I see zero difference between a Sunday and a Wednesday or any other day that ends in "Y".

I'm torn on this one.  I never liked the idea of anything opening up on a Sunday for business but I do understand not all people work M - F 9 to 5 and that retail had to accommodate those changing shifts.  I do fully believe what is good for one, is good for all.  I personally, try my very best to not work on a Sunday.

If legal work is done on Sunday, does that make it illegal?  But my real question is why do you single out legal work?  Is it somehow different from other work such as retail sales, auto repair, etc.?

For me there's no right or wrong answer. We have one small city in our county the still has Blue Laws and it's a great town and it's a demonstration of the advantages for not working on Sundays - legal work or otherwise. The rest of the county operates under typical schedules for businesses. Most retail open 7 days a week. Professional services typically M-F 8 to 5 kind of thing.

I personally work Sundays and write contracts and handle paperwork etc and I actually need that day as often it's the day that works best for my clients. It's the only day they have to take care of such things with Saturdays being full of kid's sports activities and some are working 6 days a week.

Banks, Title & Escrow are not open on Sunday, so unless a mobile notary signs someone the "legal work" of our profession does not take place.

Open houses, tours, and client meetings take place whenever the parties involved decide to meet, regardless of what I think.

A tragedy is a busload of lawyers going over a cliff with an empty seat.

"Are you a lawyer?" "Yes." "How much do you charge?" "A hundred dollars for four questions." "Isn't that awfully expensive?" "Yes. What's your fourth question?"

"Criminal Lawyer" is redundant.

Have you heard about the lawyers word processor? No matter what font you select, everything come out in fine print.

Hear about the terrorist that hijacked a 747 full of lawyers? He threatened to release one every hour if his demands weren't met.

My momma told me that you will never accomplish anything by working on Sundays.  And if you do it will tear up or apart on Monday.  So taken that into consideration, It has seemed to be so for me at least.

With real estate you do have to work when people want to see.  I choose to show homes only after church on Sundays.  Only written a few contracts on Sunday and sure enough they died on Mondays.  Usually change of mind.
