Spammers don't have a conscience.  As if you needed additional information. 

Yes.  I am getting more and more spam calls. They do program local numbers. I called a number back the other day just to see - the number on caller ID was disconnected. 

Last night, at the end of a long week, I answered a call that I knew was spam. I knew it because I get lots of calls from that number - programmed to be a PG&E number. 

I answered the call ... and boy did I have FUN!!!
What a way to end the week ... I could not stop laughing. Even as I lay in bed and prepare to slumber ... I was laughing! 

Yes this happens all the time. When I see my prefix I just ignore it. It's sad that we have to do this to get things done.

Not yet Wanda Kubat-Nerdin - Wanda Can! and I probably won't being I usually delete their number after they cross over to the other side.

I have not had that happen, however I have received lots of Robo Calls from Local Numbers and numbers that were an old number of a past client, etc.  

What a shock that must have been, Wanda!   I haven't had THAT happen but I get lots of spam calls from spoofed local numbers.  Mostly, unless I know the caller, I don't answer. 

I hate getting those spam calls...and I answer the phone because it's a local number.... ugh

I just told someone about that yesterday - the MOST frustrating spammers are not the 800 numbers that we know not to answer. It's the local numbers that we answer, thinking we will miss a buyer or seller customer or local agent calling about one of our listings.

The number of spam callers is increasing almost daily. UGH!

Spammers drive me crazy. 

I am okay with some telemarketers, but when they start the call with the dishonesty of a spoofed number they just get a lecture from me on honesty.

If I cannot get a live one to call back may I assume they are dead and a spammer as well!

I have seen Spam coming in under local #'s. Had no idea this was what they were doing. Knowing why the dead person is calling is a relief.

While this is certainly spooky, could it be that the number was simply reassigned to someone else especially since it's been a while?

I get quite a few of the robo calls from my cell  numbers first six Numbers daily ...Very frustrating !

No, but I did have a call from a "real" person awhile back that was calling from the same number as a deceased client from years back.  An odd coincidence to have the person with the "new to them" number needing real estate help from the same agent.  Bill

yes, ghosting local numbers has been going on for a few months out here.  Usually a restaurant or some such.

I get numerous phone calls that show on my phone as a number not associated with anyone in my phone data base but within my area code...and many from area codes far away. If thats all I see, the are dead to me and I do not answer. If the really want to connect with me they can leave a message. That rarely happens since they are spam callers.

Spam calls are definitely on the increase. I am beginning to think the "do not call" list is a source for these spammers!

The good news is that number spoofing is going to become more difficult later this year as all the major cell phone carriers have agreed on a process that closes a loophole that makes this particular egregious activity more difficult.

Haven't had one pop up like that before Wanda but since I know that's how they try to scam us its happening is getting closer every day. Happy St. Patrick's Day!

The spam calls that are most annoying... when they ask for my late husband. It used to bother me now I have some great responses.

No, that has not happened to me, but I have been called by an irate woman who said "she wasn't buying any damn insurance". We quickly realized a scammer was using my number as a mask. She was very apologetic, and we had a good laugh.
