My insurance covers those cleanings.

The rest of your question I'm not certain I grasped. I may need to chew on it with my pearly whites!😁

I also religiously rinse with peroxide before brushing my teeth every single day.

Let's see nine out of ten dentists recommend Colgate.  Do you really think they mean that toothpaste specifically, Paul?  Apples and oranges. And it's not just a fruit salad.  So many variables.

I do the same, Paul and it is interesting that if I have work to be done, I often negotiate a better price - I ALWAYS ask, "Can we take ___% off - I referred you guys ___ & ___!?"

I've just been to the dentist for a cleaning and have not found the price outrageous. People try to negotiate our fees because they think of us as a commodity that doesn't bring value to the table. My listing presentation is all about what value I add that no one else does and I rarely get someone who wants a discounted fee. And if they ask, I just say no.

My dentist and her staff are all women. After years of male dentist's hands in my mouth (and pocket) the cost is no longer a concern and virtually a painless ordeal.

I go to the dentist every 3 or 4  years.  I haven't had a cavity since I got my braces off when I was 12 and my dentist says it's fine that I don't come any more often because I never have tarter built up.  Peroxide and baking soda and water-pik daily are my key.

Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS I'm a little confused by your question (did you proof read it)? When I worked with Buyers they knew they weren't paying me. When I worked with Sellers it was because they knew I'd get the job done. My commission rarely came up because I told them without being asked right off the bat. Is that what your question was?

For some reason, people have a hard time figuring out how to pay for 'time'. Your example of a dentist - would I want to clean my teeth? No way. Would I even attempt to do my own fillings in my garage or kitchen? No way.

For some reason, we have to get that across right away that you are a giant knowledge sponge that also can open a door to let them in.

There is a difference between negotiation and letting clients walk all over us.

I stick to my guns and only negotiate FOR my clients, never WITH them.

As far as dentistry, you may want to fly on down to Texas and walk across the border for great service and super low prices, I know many people who do this.

I go to the dentist three times a year, but I'm covered under my husband's insurance and the price is reasonable. But I'll probably start going less often since we won't have that great coverage once he retires.

I get the "cash rate" because my insurance doesn't cover the dentist I use so I dropped dental insurance a couple years ago.  Major stuff deriving from any accidents would be covered by my regular insurance.

Funny thing is, my dentist's prices are less than what my prior dentist charged AFTER insurance!  Much better care and you see the dentist, not some assistant or showing agent.
