I don't purchase leads from anyone, I get my leads from my own website.  I have not heard of opcity before.

My previous Broker had an account with them. I never got any business out of it. They send out a blast to the subscribing agents in their system and it seemed like I was never available at the exact second that would happen Shannon Thomas

I was provided the opportunity to try it be my brokerage, but never had any success.

Very little knowledge or interest in their leads.

I don't know, but I will spend zero time worrying about it.

It's my understanding there are 2 types of leads from opcity.  The good one is the one that the broker has to pay upfront.  

opt city ugh Ben rubenstein and Michael Lam sigh from Austin Texas have been taking the credit cards of Mortgage Lenders for a while and they never let you go. Live transfers don't work much unless you have piles of money to pay for the leads who waste your time at midnight or two in the morning. 

I've heard of them in passing only a few months back.  Like others, I don't buy leads.

I tried OpCity for a few months.

The referral fee is paid when the deal closes - I think it's 35%. You can select what price range/ distance from you that you want to get leads from. You have to respond to the lead within seconds, and if you are the fastest, OpCity will call you within a minute (I think that was the commitment) with the lead on the phone, and with some high level info already provided, i.e., they are/are not pre-approved, they want to buy in such a time frame, etc. 

I did not like the service and would not want to use it again. It's nearly impossible to be the first person to respond to a lead - because we're usually in the middle of something else. I hit "Y" once after about 2 seconds and someone else already responded before me. How is that possible? 

Also, the leads did not seem to be serious - none of mine turned into a "real" client. So my little experiment didn't work for me. 

Never heard of them. Sounds like another ploy to cut into your income.

I have an account with them because my brokerage provides it. All I've seen thus far is leads looking to spend under $100K.... not my market. That's about it.

Opcity is a lead gen company that nurtures leads, supposedly, until they are ready to be released to an agent for follow up and close. Opcity gets paid at COE. Do an internet search for more info.

Shannon Thomas Realtor.com needs to improve the Opcity referral system.

I wasn't aware of this BUT I agree with Barbara Todaro 

I reached out to them. I liked what i initially heard until the cost. I could not get a couple of basic questions answered. What scared me was they take total control of reaching out to those leads. 

Stop paying third parties to get in between you (we as Realtors) and the public. It is short sighted no matter how cheap the fee, no matter whether it's buying a lead or paying a referral at closing. I can not believe "we" are paying people to eventually replace us just because we are not creating enough of our own biz - just spend the time, money and effort on lead gen. It will take however long it takes but keep at it and you will then have something you are cause over to make any size of biz you wish and not be dependent on how much biz you're getting from __________source.

Had not heard this, and never heard of Opcity.

I quit buying fake leads after there were to many that were fake.

I signed up for OpCity a few months ago. They screen the applicants prior to offering the lead. When you click to accept the lead the operator connects you to the lead. I have yet to have any of them pan out. I met with one lead and spent the day showing him property, only to find out that his aunt who is licensed didn't have time to show him entry level homes. He quickly fell off the radar and I sent the lead back to OpCity. Waiting patiently for better leads and hoping they pan out in the future. I do like the idea of giving a portion of the commission back at closing rather than shelling out money for leads.

Some in our office used Optcity to no avail.
