As far as nationally, there is only really one company now. ADT bought Protection One. Of course, if you already have a system, there is The Monitoring Center.
I'm not a fan of Ring beyond the doorbell, so I don't trust their security system.
SimpliSafe gets good reviews. I've looked into it for flip properties during construction. The portability of it is nice, but the initial costs are not.
I like the low tech methods the best. No bushes or plants for people to hide behind. LOTS of lighting all around the house (a mix of dusk to dawn always on and motion sensing) and perimeter and perimeter fencing. Without going into details publicly, there are also low tech methods to secure windows and doors. Replace wood doors with steel doors.
There is also another method to add to the security arsenal, not advertising! Get a new TV? Cut the box into tiny pieces so people can't see what you bought. Lots of stuff coming in from Amazon? Cut the boxes up! Want to park your Ferrari in the front yard to show off to your neighbors? DON'T! Get window blinds/shades/etc. to make it so people can't look into your house to see what you've got. Don't advertise that you keep certain things in your house. No NRA stickers or "Forget the dog, beware of the owner" signs that advertise you're armed. It'll make your house a target for crooks wanting free guns.
This reminds me, I have a blog out of this I've been meaning to write for a while.

Cookie!
Along with motion activated lighting, and no shrubbery to hide behind, things have work out well. Unfortunately, bad guys do drive cars and can make it to any community. That brings me back to Cookie. A barking German Shepard works wonders.
As a real estate agent I really like ADT.

I have a system with a local provider. And frankly don't use it. The only time it's activated is when we go out of town.

There was the NEST system that was hacked & the hackers were spying on the homeowners. That doesn't sound like the one you'd want.

I have recommended ADT in my area. But I may check into Simply Safe ... I have heard a number of good things of late.

Peter Mark, When seller did not leave manual for hard-wired security system we googled it and found a 12-part YouTube on installing and running the system. No doubt hackers found that useful too Do not advertise your hard-wired system with a yard sign, "Protected by ___" identifying which product to hack. Regarding wireless systems that store your "security" video in the cloud... if major corps like Equifax, Target and all these Businesses Breached in 2018 cannot safeguard our data in their files, why would you think the video of your home is safe in the cloud? Thanks for noting the White hat hacker contacting Phoenix man through his Nest home security.

Doberman or pitbull. We don't have dead bolts, don't need door safety chains or security cameras and perimeter chain link fencing with the cyclone razor sharp top section to protect our property. Once in a while you do see a sign like "I own a gun and a backhoe" or "Property Protected by Smith & Wesson", "Survivors Trespassing Will Be Prosecuted" in the 4th lowest crime state. (Knock knock knock) I hear you knocking, come on in the front, side, back door that are left unlocked and the keys or the fob to the vehicles in the yard are ready to roll and not disarmed.

ADT has a small print contract, with minimum years required of monthly payments and is in a lawsuit. Other than that, they offer a solution. Simple safe is shaking up the industry with no contract, you buy what you want, you install or they will for a charge and remains a solution. For cameras, alarms and the like....if you go all out, $1000. If you go less, $500. Depends....

I'm still looking Peter Mark SEO Services . The best system I had was Jack, my dog. I can tell you the worst piece of crap I've had was a Swann system sold by our local Menards. Tons of trouble and worthless support and warranty. AVOID SWANN

Smith and Wesson. Just proven effective in Phoenix last week. Two guys break-in this guy's house at 1am. Owner warned them plenty. One robber dead, the other injured badly. The survivor must pay reparations to the owner.
I have an early-warning system on four legs and bark to wake up the dead.
