Formatting is an issue in Active Rain, regardless of how you post. I'm very frustrated and tired of it.

Sarah Layton | Copywriter & Inman Star Contributor if you are not typing it directly into AR you are going to have problems. What Barbara Todaro said usually works for me but when it doesn't I take an extra step of pasting it from google docs into notepad and then into AR.

You're doing it wrong! Either copy the html into that window or stop using G docs.

I'm confused here so HELP ME OUT ..... you are  writing about how to blog & you are asking US how to fix this? Should be something that you know already like the back of your hand.

I think you be scammin' us here ......

I copy and paste many things in AR and almost always don't look right in terms of formatting.  Often I just let it go or I'll spend the whole day just to correct it.  There many things to do to run this business and correcting format in AR is not my top priority.

The AR platform is very unstable.  Formatting is an issue. I stip all formatting either by dropping in Note and then pasting into AR and reformatting. A real PITA for sure or if the txt formatting is working in AR I use that.

Formatting is a problem in AR. I always write directly in AR and save as Draft as I write.  Save often!

I've found that you can't just copy & paste into your blog here- the content just doesn't translate well. Rather than tweeking it I just load the content manually with an understanding of the shortcomings with which I must work.

I previously used Google Docs, then switched to Google Drive and now write posts directly into ActiveRain.  it's not the most user-friendly system and has provided much frustration over the years.  Good luck.

That Tx button on your toolbar will delete all the goofy formating and allow you to start fresh.

That's because the PC format from Google doesn't interface with Commodore 64 computer language in use at AR.

Yep, the editor does crazy stuff, like it or not, and has for a while. I always highlight my cut and paste text, then click on the Tx icon to remove formatting, then you can change your font, bolding, etc

Copy paste is no bueno. If you want to save time and get it out there, I would say write a short introduction, then link it to your other blog. Some don't like that, others do it successfully, your alternative is to transcribe.

Try right click and paste with the keep source formatting and see if that works. Some times you just have to make adjustments in the interface you are pasting into.

I just type right into Active Rain ... Seems AR needs to get a handle on this problem. It's getting very old and there are some choosing to leave and work from a different platform.  Not good.

I have had good results copying/pasting HTML code from my website blog into AR.  Anything else is VERY problematic. The txt and format again is time-consuming but works.

We can't paste direct from Google docs on this platform.  You must save as .txt document so download the doc and save as  .txt don't just paste. The html code / added with google sauce in google docs works to be pasted into blogger but not Active Rain

I'm giving a plug for my poetry blog here (a comment thing I never do just because I've been blogging since 1991) https://carolinegerardo.blogspot.com

Like others have mentioned:

Copy from G Docs > Paste in Notepad or Mac equivalent > copy again > paste in AR text editor > format again.

Yes, it's a pain.

Save your document as html or xml and paste the code into the AR html editor. It works every time and even keeps the formatting on tables.
