I come from the "compulsive buyer" camp Wanda Kubat-Nerdin - Wanda Can! so I'd go with the later more likely then then the earlier. I don't remember using the Benjamen Franklin approach in any of my RE purchases.

By culimating experience, they have more information.  A person who is buying their tenth house has more experience, therefore they know more (a synonym for more information), than a first-time homebuyer.
