If I don't remember I simply apologize and ask them their name.

I'm not sure I have that problem Saul.

Sometimes I have to ask, sometimes I remember, other times I fake it until a clue arises and I remember.

"Forgive me, I have only two brain cells left from the 70s. Could you please help me with your first name?"

I have an amazing memory but it has quirks. I can tell you how and where we met. Your dog or cat's name. Your birthday/Sun Sign I rarely forget.

I will know the first letter of your first name and I'll know that the name I'm thinking of is not the right name.

So I'll just fall on my sword.

People get my name wrong all the time, no worries. Cindy Sandy Candy.

The best way to remember someone's name is to repeat it as soon as they tell it to you.

However, someone who repeats my name too many times annoys me.

I can't remember the last time I ran into this problem.

Regrettably, if the time has come when I must ask it's accompanied with a slight embarrassment attached. I apologize!

Regardless of the reason, I have asked if I have forgotten a name. 

When you first learn someone's name, you have to really seal it in your brain.  I do that with association.  The specifics of this technique are documented in plenty of places.  Like any new skill, it takes a little longer and seems cumbersome at first, but once you get good at it, it's easy.

I think it is important to remember people's name, so I put forth the effort.

It's generally not a problem for me, surprisingly.

It totally depends on the person - some names stick for me others don't.

If I can't remember I either carry on talking without mentioning their name or simply ask their name again if it seems best to do so.

No sir, I remember the faces but not the names.  A sign of old age

Do not forget a face. However, women realtors who constantly change their hair color think I remember their names.

I remember addresses....  "oh, it's so nice to see you again, 15 Madison Ave!"

Simply put, most of the time I don’. Never have been as good as I should remembering names

I have always been terrible at names and it has nothing to do with age. I will remember everything else about them though. I am upfront and apologize for not remembering. 

I have selective memory...I remember pets names, and the houses where I went to a garage sale.

Mike however... he remembers faces, names and the floor plan of the house they bought, even if it was many years ago.

If I don't remember I just don't use their name. I've even had to introduce people & I've done the same, leave an open space & they'll fill in the blank. 

I'll usually remember their dog's name!

I never guess if if i dont know.... but i try to remember people by relating their name with how i know them, a neighborhood, a house, where they are from... like Florida Fred buying a home now with me

Usually they say to me :" Evelina, you probably don't remember us."

and say their names

I umpire. At the plate meeting prior to the game, the coaches and umpires introduce themselves, go over ground rules, exchange line-ups, etc...  I can't remember the coaches name before the first pitch, let alone next baseball season.

I havea hard time sometimes with this so have to see what others have to say!

If they put $$$ in my pocket that is never a problem.

I show the tag on the chain around my neck.

It has my name on it.

"That's how I remember my name. I have forgotten yours."

Hey Paul I learned a little trick years ago - I attach something to the name that the person reminds me of - and I usually remember names. Not always - I do have to work at that trick at times! That's why people remember my name - cause it makes them smile and laugh. Oh she's.......

I generally don't, unless the name is very unique.  I just don't use names.  "Hey, how's it going.  Long time no see.  How's the house working out for you?"

I was blessed with this gift Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS but I obviously don't remember all of them. What amazes me is I can remember asome names from 20 years ago or more even if I only met them once. BTW this happened to me yesterday with someone I had no relationship with and had not seen in 15 years.

One year, I would probably remember, it is the ones years later, I do forget some.
