I use ActiveRain "To Test" my thoughts....and to sort out the reactions to my thoughts.... that also holds true for marketing pieces that I share that I have not introduced to the market....

it's a great testing grounds.... 

I also enjoy profiling the members.... 

I rate what they do and how well they do it...

I do have a following who reads what I write.... my purpose here is not to find new business..... I find my business using offline marketing....

I don't look at my "investment" in ActiveRain in that way.  In fact, it has changed over time as I currently receive my "return" in different ways.  Sometimes it changes on a daily basis.  Maybe even moment-by-moment.  It will be interesting to see how others view their personal "statement".

I love Barbara Todaro 's answer - AR is a great way to test out ideas, so in that respect the results aren't necessarily measurable.

In terms of actual business, blogging takes up about 50% of my time on AR and has resulted in 100% of the results.

Well, being offline this week and trying to log on as a 'consumer' this week, I found out that this site is difficult to access as a consumer. It's been a long time since I got a lead from AR but, I do often get referrals from other agents. 

That said, it's more the relationship focus and having something posted each day/week that I can link for clients or the consumer, as well as having links back to my website.

HOWEVER, not sure the link-backs are going to do anyting at all with an insecure site. I'm more than a little bummed about that, Bob.

I do it because I like the interaction with other Realtors I've met on here & I do learn new things. This really ought to be a better source of referral business than it is. The ROI is nil for me. While it should remain the lowest priority in my day I do manage to come on daily.

Being retired I'm not trying to "get" anything.  I mostly look for ways to share my knowledge and help others in whatever way I can. 

That said, I do enjoy connecting with those who I'd like to meet in person and get to know better, not just online. In that way, whatever time I've spent on AR is well worth the time spent.
