I'll be ready in 5 and hubby's arrival time will seriously depend upon traffic but, regardless, I'll be ready early!

My wife knows that it will be more than 3 hours, always one more thing to do before leaving the office.

Old fashioned stereotypes would imply so. Say that nowadays & you've offended 99.9% of the room. (I respect that you don't worry about that & I'm the .10% not offended). I get it's a joke, funny for the spark of truth in there. Definitely not the case in my house. 

If I tell my wife I'll be home in 10 minutes she'll be ready in 5! She is always early and I'm almost always on time.

I don't see a question here BUT I had a similar situation yesterday with a cab. Once my cab was 10 minutes late I caught another one. If a client stood me up for more then a half hour I moved on and if I heard from them again I let them know I was no longer interested in working with them unless they had a good reason for wasting my time.

I'm ready in 20 minutes from the time I wake up.  If it takes 3 hours there is a problem.

I expect if he says 10 minutes that it means exactly that.  I'll be ready and waiting at the door for his arrival. He will not go if he is going to be late.
