Residential? Depends on financing.
Cash? 30 days. Financed? 30-60?
Commercial? Depends on feasibility, financing, more.
Cash? 30-90 days. Financing? 3-6 months.
Development deal? Depends on the above and much more.
Could take a year or longer.
A hospital in my region, the deal took 3 years.
A development deal we did a bit ago took 9 months.
NOTHING is typical!

1-2 Hours... Should not take any longer than that - IF the offer is serious and the seller is ready to execute.

NYC is different and my timelines are all related to once in contract. To get into contract can require co-operation from many different parties- and once an offer is accepted it could take 3 days to a month to get into contract. All cash condo typically takes 30-45 days to close, Condo with financing typically 60 days to close. All cash co-op takes about 60 days to close (depending on time of year- year end holidays and summers can be much longer). Financed co-op's add an additional 30 days - so 90 days or more. Lots of deals take much longer depending on the purchaser applications and getting co-operation from all parties.

On the financing end 30 days is doable if the Borrower has all the documents required, if not 45 days is a reasonable time period.

So many variables! A signed contract both ways 12 to 36 hours typically. Execution to closing 7 to 60 days typically for residential.

By "execute"...do you mean "close"?
If so...it depends.
Cash purchase can close in days...financed purchased may take 20-60 days with about 30 days being normal.

Typically - 30 to 45 days depending on the loan type and appraiser availability (back log). Of course cash can be faster and rehab, USDA, Short Sales, BK's or other non-typical transactions can take longer - sometimes much much longer.
