I see issues with self checkout and I see issues with this far beyond the "was it purchased or not" aspect.  What if someone spends time on the booze aisle, or the pregnancy test kits or other "highly personal medical issue" aisle.  Amazon is in the business of selling data (that's right, it's not products they sell).  What will this tell us?  Will cops be getting your shopping habits to prove drunk driving behaviour?  Will insurance companies have access to it?  Buy a lot of pregnancy test kits?  Buy a lot of condoms?  Maybe your insurance rate will go up because of a higher chance of getting an STD?

I believe that the technology programming job pays more than $15/hour!

Whole Foods in my area has more "store customer shoppers" than customers like me who do their own shopping.

Maybe. I'm not sure that I would shop their for the prices. It's like a robot run grocery store - someone has to put out the turnips!

Walmart actually has an app that will help you shop if you want it to but you have to check out on your own. The app knows even when you're in the parking lot which is kind of creepy. I think that's the way of the future.

Employers will find an alternative to "entitled employees" that demand more than they are earning for the company.

I see that McDonalds now has machines in the lobby to do your own ordering.

Soon to be the Socialist Republic of Amazon. Just like those who use Z, those who use A are just shooting themselves and small businesses out of existence. It is a slash and burn philosophy on A's part and this new business model is another nail in the coffin

We both are fussbuckets.  No one shops for me, and the GO stores (my understanding  is that they are for convenience items).  We also dislike our Whole Foods store here and in Oxnard.  Their personnel is not happy working there, so well do not shop there!  A

YES it is a direct result. That is why you are seeing more self checkout and in restaurants i am seeing more order kiosks. The left is legislating away jobs more than they create with these policies.

Sounds and seems very strange, but a cashier-less operation could save the merchant a lot in salaries of actual cashiers. Reminds me of something I heard and read about CHINA - they have a "Social Score" for each person. The score is created by the way one interacts with others...

A couple people mentioned the selling of our information and spying on us. Well they've been doing it since you entered your phone number at the drug store or grocery store for "Discounts." I'm not good with all the selling of my habits, not like I do anything fabulous; but it is bad for personal freedom. I see an advantage for my Mom who is 88 and really shouldn't be driving around town to pick up stuff here and there. I also see the personal shoppers with carts lined with foil padded bags to insulate and keep items cool. Still a real person picks your eggplant. And now for a big leap Annette Lawrence , Palm Harbor, FL 727-420-4041   did you see the video of the robot delivering food to "prisoner/patients" in Huhan Province ... that's what I think of when Amazon Goes into my life... LOL not

I DO think this is what is going to happen to all the minimum wage retail jobs Annette Lawrence , Palm Harbor, FL 727-420-4041 . With the pressure on to make the minimum wage earner capable of making house payments on $500,000 home and pay for college too employers will stop hiring for these positions.

I see pros and cons and am a little leary about it. I like my privacy but see more and more being given up voluntarily for the sake of convenience.

I admit that I would go in an Amazon Go store if I was near it just to try it out.
