I think things will go back to their old status quo in short order. Some things will take time, but most places will go back to their "good enough" cleaning routines within a couple months of this being called off. Food prep is already well regulated and public transportation has never been safe in any sense of the word, especially in LA, SF or New York.

There may be a new normal after this blows over Richie Alan Naggar but I don't think it will be far off from last weeks normal.

Change is nothing to fear. Adaptability is essential. Now is the time for joining together in a common cause. It is not the time for individuality

Being a bit of a germaphobe, I always practice these things but, I don't wear a mask when I'm out - and most flu viruses are airborne.
Being in the public, we're all going to be exposed to airborne bugs - and we DO need to be exposed to bacteria to develop immunities.
I think the youngest will have learned handwashing as never before - always a good thing!

I think once this particular virus is under control, most people will go back to whatever their normal was. Certain industries may need to make permanent changes if they want to convince people they are "safe" (i.e., cruise lines, travel industry).

Germs, germs, we all have to be exposed to germs to be able to tackle future viruses and the like. Being too clean can actually backfire.

You are right Richie Alan Naggar ... time to head to the country and escape the crowds. But contact, being jumpy when someone sneezes in small spaces. Do you have adequate toilet paper and what's for supper, where did it come from all in the heighten awareness.
The tightening it up and getting more exercise, giving up bad habits and increased awareness can not hurt unless panic, anger, misinformation is not corraled. Solution based approaches to crisis situations work best with fact, a plan and not chicken little sky is falling emotion. Education, time, avoiding grabbing hold of that door knob or shopping cart handle makes you rethink and retool for sure. We will be better prepared for another virus, bacteria, whatever life throws at us based on this coronovirus development that impacts everyone's life. Fear, anxiety teaches you a lot about yourself, others. Do you live in a crowded area?

I doubt that's entirely true. We'll alter to a new normal, new standards proposed I'm sure, but I've always hated it when people sneeze or cough or yawn without covering their mouth, not just now. My reactions will be the same as always "rude!"
I've also always carried Purell on me, as a networker I shake a lot of hands. Gatherings will resume, humans are tribal, it's in our DNA.

It's temporary. Most of us will forget, although everyday caution such as washing hands should be practiced at all times.

This time of year in Florida the oaks are covering EVERYTHING in green pollen. 1 hr in a parking lot and the ride is completely covered.
I should be noted, the same pollen is inhaled with every breath. The typcial reaction of the body to these invaders are coughing, sneezing, and other body fluids expressants.
My mask was to keep out the pollen, but most on the trail may have thought otherwise.
I think fist-bombs, bow-bumps, foo- taps, secret shakes are all going to become more common place as we continue the slide towards everyone is a 'they' and the personal touch/distinction becomes an un-relateable phenomena.
