The Fed lowered a key intra-bank rate.  Mortgage rates cannot be zero, otherwise what bank would lend money for 30 years with no profit?  Banks lend out the money you deposit for a higher interest rate, so that they can pay you the interest on your money.

The mortgage rate isn't the rate that was lowered, in fact, it has risen slightly in the past few day.  

It's very dangerous to verbalize someone else's "talking points" when you don't have the background knowledge to back them up. Most agents should not "go there".

Smart consumers are anxious to take advantage of the very attractive mortgage interest rates.

Many do ask if that means mortgage rates will now be 0. However it makes for great opportunities to talk to consumers and attract new clients by answering correctly and that helps that consumer.
