While the Governor has said real estate is essential, individual counties have more restrictive practices that override the state, including no open houses and no in-person showings depending on where you are. No doubt there are other requirements in place I am not aware of.

Has nothing to do with the real estate commission... it has to do with our governor's orders and in our case, our county commissioner's orders, which supercede the governor's orders. We are not essential in Charlotte City and Mecklenburg County.

It's basically up to the sellers no matter what the Governor says. If sellers don't want to put their family at risk, they can suspend in person showings.

In MA some towns have banned Open Houses. Our brick & mortar offices are closed (voluntarily for the safety of the agents and staff). Showings are by appointment. Our State Association has recommended No Open Houses. Our Governor first declared Real Estate non-essential then switched gears.

We are essentially: essential and there’s nothing we can’t do except live open houses, but live virtual open houses. 💡maybe people that finally realize that open houses are a waste of time through this exercise. 😂

We’re allowed to conduct all facets of our business as long as we are observing COVID19-health guidelines.
So we’re doing as much as we can through live video technology versus meeting in person unless meeting in person is necessary and even that has guidelines.

My choice: I have no intention of showing a home that’s occupied live, and I’m only willing to show vacant homes through FaceTime essentially I don’t wanna meet my client in person if I don’t have to right now.

In Pennsylvania, it's been over 2 weeks, no in-person showings or listing appointments, most settlements delayed. We are considered non-essential to the point that RE offices are closed to any activity.

The Florida Real Estate Commission wouldn't have the authority.  If our Board tried a stunt like that, I would laugh at them.

The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Division of Real Estate, could theoretically take a shot at it, but our Governor would slap them down in a heartbeat.

Regardless of what any governor or locale states, we all should be able to override that if need be with good judgement and a high standard of ethics...assuming that you care about your clients and other people.  I can see many on here are doing this.

If any agents are showing homes in our area (metro NY), they are crazy stupid.  And, I would never recommend them as they have demonstrated poor judgments and have a very low ethical standard.  (it may not be as clear cut in other areas, but pls exercise good judgment for yourself, your family and your neighbors).  Pls use alternative methods as discussed above.

Federal, State and local governments have now pronounced real estate to be an essential business in the San Francisco Bay Area. With stay in place orders, restrictions against open houses, closed real estate offices, and prohibitions against meeting with strangers, we continue to work in a challenging environment.

What I have observed, no one except me, has proposed a way to show homes that insures the safety of the owner and buyer. In such a void, together we all will suffer the repercussions of others making the decision professional should be doing.

Rather than 'piece mealing' the C-19 response, the economy should be froze in place. No rent collected. No mortgage payments. Now credit card payments, car payments, utility, you know FROZEN.

The many more will be able to make the isolate more practical.

Instead, we will get 90 to 180 days of anarchy.

While real estate has been deemed "essential" in my state, we're only doing what we must to get some things closed and helping buyers who would otherwise be homeless soon.  And we're taking lots of protective messures and doing as much virtually as possible.

It is strongly being discouraged but not against the law.  Agents want forms filled out prior to showing and a limit to only two people with the agent.  Many precautions are being taken but if someone gets sick a lawsuit could follow.  Keep in mind you and sue anyone over anything and everyone loses even if the win.

Here in Monterey County, at this point in time, I, one Realtor, can show a home to 2 persons of the same family as long as no one else is in the house. But I haven't done that, don't want to put anyone at risk. Only virtual showings.

For a new listing coming up next week, my photographer will take aerial drone shots. He can take interior photos ONLY if it is vacant and there is no furniture and that includes no staging furniture (but it is staged). So,  I, the Realtor, can take photos as long as there is no one in the house. And, needless to say, precautions are taken any time any one goes into a listing.

At least that's the plan right now, I will doublecheck that this follows the current guidelines next week.

And, yes, Realtors, are essential here in Monterey County but no one has their office open that I can see.

Here in NY it has changed over the past few weeks.  We were non-essential.  We're now essential HOWEVER, no in-person activities permitted.  Showings are virtual by the licensee.  Many agents are not complying and are having in-person visits with sellers and their buyers.  It's a bit of a *%&-show...

Be well!
