I see that sort of stuff when I am hiking, growth from the middle of a rock and it amazes me.  That is a great photo, thank you for sharing!

Richard, we have a county seat in Indiana where a tree kept growing out of the top of the county courthouse.  They kept trying to eradicate it and finally have embraced the tree and that they are the only courthouse in Hoosierdom with a tree growing out of the top of it!

Miracles of nature. I saw one REO once where a bush at the side of the house popped out of the concrete drive, grew up the house, thru the soffit & roof. Looked nice when it bloomed.

Somewhere here on AR is a pic of it.

Nature always finds a way. We're losing trails here in San Diego to overgrowth from the lack of maintenance and lack of hiking since Wuhan Virus invaded the West Coast.

Richard,

Mother Nature is much tougher than we give it credit for.  I have seen trees growing out of boulders...A

The little tree that could! Glad to see your pictures again Richard. They are always good for a head shaking, a smile or a chuckle.

I see flowers growing out of cracks in concrete especially out here where it's hard to grow much of anything, and I feel like if that flower could make it through all that . . . I certainly can get through my sillyass cushy life.

PS 186 was abandoned for 30 plus years. It is 1 block south of my own building- and you could see trees growing out from the top floor and roof. The building has since been restored- with a Boys and Girls club on one side of the building (1st floor) and residences above.  Before pictures: https://abandonednyc.com/2012/07/08/inside-harlems-p-s-186/

Images like this, and the one of the one-armed tree pointing in the direction the wind went are all testimonies of things that WANT to live.....even in the harshest environment.
For all of us the message should be "are we trying as hard to make a difference?"
