I think you should advise that he consult his broker, haha.  I was able to login today so I consider that quite an accomplishment in and of itself, haha.

There you have it!

Consumers rarely know when they are being underserved by the agent they are working with. I've had real estate agents sign up for the MLS feed on my WordPress site.

Thomas

Every other day I have calls from agents, they do not have MLS access.

They are using MLS of the manager, broker.

Now, it is a question to your question. How can it be?!

Low split companies advertise :"You don't need MLS"

Only a few listings have simple lock box. Most of our listings - Supra. NO MLS - no Supra access.

Why pay MLS if you can go by and use homebody's?!

I'll vote for ignorant or "thick" as opposed to crazy Thomas J. Nelson, Realtor e-Pro, CRS, RCS-D, Vets . If I had an agent under me who did not use the MLS he/she would great an education of the importance of using the MLS I as a Broker am paying for. If they still don't get it I would show them the door being they are not giving the clients of MY Brokerage the full service they deserve.

What, that is a surprise?

I have several  agents call me to ask me real estate questions or they want to schedule a showing with me. ( no, we do not have any listings)

They are so stupid that they cannot figure out that a Buyer Broker is...

Nothing surprises me...

Too old? Maybe.

My market research pertaining to the Tampa Bay area would suggest 'the kid' is not off base and since Zdevil and Redfin and MLS have the same stuff, it don't see the 'limiting his buyers' problem.

However, you may have missed an opportunity to collect an upfront train'n fee. You could have told him his broker will reimburse.

All problems in real estate originate at the broker. It can be insufficient train'n or agreeing to turn all REALTORS into order takers. Until someone shows courage to break from the herd, the REALTOR landscape remains unchanged.

In Florida, it's not so much an MLS vs. Redfin App issue, it is EASE OF ENTRY into this so-called profession.  A high school diploma and a 63 hour online course, then pass a fairly easy State exam.

No business experience required, no common sense necessary, no tech skills, no understanding of how houses are constructed or maintained, no real world experience of any kind.

I am all for free enterprise, for capitalism, for people being able to go into business for themselves... but we are talking about selling houses and investment properties for hundreds of thousands of dollars or millions of dollars.  There must be more training, and some sort of apprenticeship or residency requirement before these newbie numpties are released upon the buying and selling public.

Oh it's amazing who the public will trust their biggest purchase (or sale) to.  I had one over the weekend that didn't know a property had a contract on it w/ a 48 hour contingency.  It's right on the MLS but I didn't tell her so.....! SMH!!

Reminds me of the call I got yesterday from Hawaii where I am also a broker. Here's his story as I understood it: former licenssee who let his license expire; is catching up on all the continuing education, wants to "refer" business now to a broker." Are you kidding me? Paying a referral fee to a non-active agent is illegal in Hawaii and California and probably around the country.  Oh, he knew that, that's why he was calling me, I'm a broker and I can take referrals. I think he wanted me to hold onto the fees until he did get his license back.  NO THANK YOU.
