I'm sure I have.  I can't think of the specific instances (plural, 'cause I'm sure it's happened more than once).  I don't have a lot of energy to fight ignorance... as you point out... it's easier to just fill out both amendments.

I usually opt to educate the other person if something can be done in a simpler manner, but I totally get not wanting to take extra time to explain and or argue with someone that doesn't know what they are doing or might be set in their ways.

Like you, I've learned to pick my battles! While this is not a battle, some agents just don't want to learn of a different way to do things. I call it stuck in a rut!

If I'm talking to them and feel they may be open to learning, I will take that teaching moment. Otherwise, like you, if it accomplishes the same goal and they've already gotten their signatures, I just follow suit!

You handled this well.   You understood the need to be right is outweighed by the competitive nature of representing a buyer in a hot seller's market, and acquiescing to the demand of the listing agent in no way causes prejudice to your client.

You also understood that listing agent isn't wrong per se, or you wouldn't have complied.   An extra amendment was unnecessary, as you said, but not actually wrong.  In this case, the path of least resistance was the way to go.

I've found that agents from different brokerages and their transaction coordinators can have different requirements in order to complete their file. There are times when I have balked on behalf of my clients because it put my clients at potential risk down the road.  They THEN said, but then YOU have to sign on their behalf.  UH...UH.  So, as Kathleen Daniels, Probate & Trust Specialist says in her comment, it may come back to bite us.

Tammy, here two amendments might be used if one were a price adjustment needed by lender and if the other amendment involved certain personal items or other topic not monetarily significant. 

This might happen when parties wish to document agreed responsibilities not addressed in the standard agreement of sale.

They can be wrong and enjoy their wrongness. Sooner or later they will end up in a pickle and it won't be on my deal as it will be done!

Sure....chose and move... is how I think of that stuff.  Some folks take way to much time and waste my time and others.  But, had it been an agent that worked for us, that would have been different. I would insist they do it correctly and there were consequences if not done on time.
