If needed, I say YES please. If not, I say I'm good

I'd like to respond with "I don't know, can you?"  I always answer honestly.  I might need help some days and others I'm content to browse.  I don't knock the kid for doing as they were trained but I do wish they'd say "May I help you?"  

Where am I when I am asked "Can I help you?'

Rarely do I ever get asked if I need help or as you say "can I help you"? 

I am typically on the hunt to find someone to help and pray whoever shows up can actually help me. 

Who is asking? What's the background story?

In general I say no thank you.

But I guess it would depend on the situation. Am I reaching for something way up high on a grocery store shelf, balancing precariously on my tiptoes on the bottom shelf? Then I would probably say yes.

Is the person sending me an email to ask if they can help me with my website? The answer is "delete"

Depends on where I am and the situation. I certainly appreciate the offer of help, whether really needed or not. If not, I let whoever asked know.

That depends, but, if someone is willing to help I am learning to accept their offer. That only took 73 years...lol

My mom and my English teacher taught me to say "May I help you?"

What do I say? It depends on the situation, the person asking, what my need is, where I am, etc, etc, etc.

I may say no if help is not needed, yes if help is needed, or yes because if I feel the person offering needs to be included. For example, if I have company and they offer to help set up or clear the dishes, I've learned to let them. It is more about them than it is about me.  Some people are natural helpers and are in their element when they're helping.

It depends on where I am and who is asking. If it's a psychologist, I'd say "Probably not, but you can try."

Depends if it is a banker, or a paramedic...

If they can, I respond with a "Yes, thank you. I need ___."

Most times my response is, "No, thank you but, thanks for asking."
