I do not.

I have not heard of them until now.

Not sure what your needs are.  My title company has a list of "authorized" mobile notaries.  You may want to check with your title company for trusted mobile notaries.

Our title companies, who do our closings, use a number of mobile notaries that they have vetted.

The one you mentioned is unknown to me...but I don't know who the notaries are whom are used, I just want the job to be done right and I expect the title company to get the job done right.

It is probably a local service?

However, my guess, they all are the same. How difficult is to stop by at the scheduled time, stamp a document and take a fingerprint:)

I used to be a notary, it is nothing complicated:)

A clever name, for sure, Emily. But no, I've not heard of them. One of my neighbors is a mobile notary so when I need one, I call him. Most of the real estate attorneys in town also have mobile notaries they use and recommend.

Good morning Emily Medvec . I am here because Kat Palmiotti tagged me. I am glad you are checking them out because when dealing with sensitive documents you want to be "sure". My 1st thought was to look them up on the National Notary website and they had nothing on them what so ever which surprises me. I would also look them up on Notary Cafe. You may wish to check with the State and be sure they are licensed. This is very important to protect your clients personal information. Jerry Lucas may have more insight to share.

This is not a mobile notary service with in-house notaries.  It is a mobile notary scheduling service AKA signing service.

A signing service is a "middle man" that markets to get orders for mobile notary jobs.  They charge a marked-up price and then find an independent mobile notary who will do the job for a much lower price and they keep the difference as a "finder's fee" profit.

Perform due diligence. Carefully read the terms of service, mandatory prepayment policy, cancellation fee policy, liability disclaimer, and no-refund policy on their website.

Would you use a vendor with a website that has no posted business address, no information or bio about the business owner, a new website created a few months ago, no posted fee schedule, demands prepayment, disclaims liability, and will send you an unnamed notary?

I would hire a local mobile notary directly, at a lower price, who has been a notary for at least 5 years, has training and experience with the type of documents involved, has notary insurance, has a website that includes a business address, posted fee schedule with competitive pricing, a bio listing the notary's qualifications, acceptable terms of service, and a refund policy.

You might also look for positive indicators such as community or industry volunteer work, membership in professional organizations, continuing education, industry awards from peers, citations in media, pro bono work, participation in notary forums, a blog demonstrating subject matter expertise, etc.

Caveat Emptor.

P.S. Be aware that in some states no notary training is required and no notary journal is required. I suggest requiring notary training and keeping a notary journal as part of your hiring criteria.

In most states, notary commissions expire in 4 years and must be renewed. So, requiring 5 years of experience means the notary decided to renew for another 4 years.  Rookies who are not serious about doing notary work or got into trouble for notary errors are not likely to renew for 4 more years.

Very, very few notaries are also state accredited notary training instructors. Hire a notary who is also an accredited training instructor, if available.

I am not familiar with Orange Peel, but have worked with a notary that came to my home to sign papers that needed to be inked, if that's what you mean by "mobile". It was fine, we made sure the person was "authorized" and were prepared to meet in a neutral location, if we so chose.
