Hello Fred,  I do have a hidden folder on my smartphone as an App, and I started using Dashlane Security for all my passwords.

Hello Fred,  the manner in which my WordPress sites are hosted and my files set up, including passwords, I do not see a need for a hide folder feature.

My tech peeps have all taken care of for me.

I wish you all the best finding a perfect solution for your needs.

I do not have such a program Fred Griffin Florida Real Estate but I will look into it. I have to admit I am sick of passwords and such. On my new phone I don't even have it password protected.

Many years ago I did, never really trusted the program though.

Now I just password protect the whole computer.

What is your goal?  Are you looking to secure one folder or a set of folders on a shared computer?  Or are you looking to protect your entire drive in case it's stolen?

I've used TrueCrypt and it's offshoot VeraCrypt in the past for folder level and entire disk encryption.  With the folder level you create a big file that looks meaningless but it actually stores the encrypted folders so they don't show up.  Obvious downside is if you suffer drive corruption in the area of the folder, you better have a backup.

Both of those also have full disk encryption options as well.  I've used them on some laptops in the past until my drive started failing.

Now I use something else that encrypts locally and has encrypted cloud storage with "zero knowledge" keys.  In other words, they don't know your key and can't be forced to disclose and decrypt your data like Google and others can and have been.  Won't post publicly, PM me for the product name.

I use a plethora of passwords that I honestly can never remember when necessary. No "Hide folders" software. Will look into it.

I am very lax when it comes to digital security.  My computer has a code to enter any of my sites but passwords are weak.

I don't have one of those, but it seems like a really good idea.  However, I do not know enough about it to be a worthy source to recommend something, haha.  For my part, I don't keep anything on my computer, but rather an external hard drive and I keep a list of my passwords but encrypted with a simple code that hopefully only I understand, haha.

I don't but, Ray does as he has all of our financial info on HIS computer, not mine! He uses #3 on your list, Folder Lock. Every time his operating system is upgraded (MS 10 to 11), he has to buy another license for it (which is not that often). The cost is $39.95 each time he has to update his license (not annually but, every few years).

He really likes it and when I need to log-on to get information for a P&L, etc. I don't have any issues getting in. So, user-friendly from a personal perspective!
