Leads are the most recycled scam going online. 
So few are successful and the ones that are, they are spending $10K/month or more and run teams - and even their success numbers are suspect.

I only paid for leads at the beginning of my career and had success with that.  My business has been more referral-based since then.

Years ago, I tried using a service where you would only pay for a lead if it closed. The name is escaping me at the moment. But the quality of the leads was terrible and I wasted a lot of time following up with people who had no interest in buying or selling. I believe I eventually closed one deal. When the name of the service comes back to me, I will share.

     Continue having success creating leads organically Michael Elliott. Keep  track and in touch with your calls, emails and anyone filling out a website contact form, social media blog post commenters and subscribers on video, etc. Those are your leads to feed, weed, water and harvest.

     Home grown slow cooked tastes best right? Not tired lists so many throw money at to chase and waste valuable time.

The first two years in my career, the company that I started with highly recommended that I pay for realtor.com I paid $350 for the year and the second, and I received "0" leads. I never did it again.

I do work with a company that sends leads and I pay a referral fee only if I close a transaction. I've had good success over the years.

    In the early days of Realtor dot com, during the "Max Pigman" tour (yes, that is his real name), I blew $2400 to get featured in the most expensive zip code in the capital city of Florida. That was for a quarter (three months).

  I got a couple of calls and emails, but nothing materialized. 

   An expensive lesson to never buy leads.

When active I never paid for leads and currently retired, no need!

Currently, paying for online leads isn’t part of my strategy. Instead, focusing on organic lead generation through my websites and blog posts has proven effective. Additionally, attending networking events helps build genuine connections with potential clients.

By providing valuable content and engaging with others, users find me naturally - which creates trust and rapport. Keeping up with my organic efforts can yield sustainable results.

You know it a scammer lead farming phone call coming in, when they speak so quickly with the name of their organization that you cannot understand it and the next thing they say, hi "are you still in real estate". Time to hang up. I have tried several over the years, waste of time and money. "No Mas!" = No More. Jeff

I am slowing down so my business is mainly past customers or referrals from agents too busy to serve the lower price points or more demanding clients.

No, only tried once, a long time ago and that just created work, nothing real.

I don't pay for online leads anymore.  I have in the past and found fees increasing regularly and even doubling with they started charging for desktop and mobile leads separately.  They also started have a race between agents to get the lead.  The leads and worth having but not at the cost.

Never had, never would, never will. I worked by referral of SOI for years.  I always suggested our agents never go down that pay for non-referrals.  And hey - if works for someone else and pays off more power to them.  Just not my style.

The ratio of online purchased leads as about 100 to one.  That number might still be valid and or old but it is certainly ball park.  The key to any lead is what is your ratio of conversion.  Having loads of leads is worthless unless you have the ability to convert them.
