What's ridiculous is that she barely had to state that the house was hers in order to change the deed to her name, with no proof required, but he has to jump through hoops to get it to be returned to his name.  Ridonkulous!

Why are we surprised at the creativity of opportunists? Billions of dollars make their way to these fraudsters. Some get caught, others make their getaway. Our systems to monitor are slow & complex too. Computers instead of people are assigned to catch the lawbreakers using algorithms. The thing is fraudsters use their software tricks too. It's an arm race

It's such a shame that this kind of thing happens.  Locally I know if one lot that had a fraudulent sale.  Scammer called agent, listed, lot was sold scammer was paid.... rightful owner showed up and said "I did not sell my lot".   Rightful owner has lot back, buyers have their money back, scammer made off with buyers funds and attorney paid out of pocket instead of filing insurance claim.

"Arrested on a felony" sadly does not mean anything anymore.  If she is found guilty and sentenced to a strong sentence, then justice would be mostly served but not fully served until she serves the entirety of her sentence.  Sadly, I doubt any of that will happen in today's climate.

Oh for Pete's sake....lock the wack job up. People who think they can steal other peoples property have a screw loose and why any so called law would make this ok or kind of ok is beyond nuts.  Consequences will straighten people out....and we need to get a lot of those back so it seems.....

Good morning, It has been a hot topic here. People have been taking the story and running with it just as they do many things they hear on the news. One of my preferred attorneys made a post about it. He slammed the news reporter for not getting facts before writing the news and creating clickbait.

He says just because someone does that doesn't make the property theirs. It wouldn't even stop the owner from selling his house. The unfortunate thing is it cost the homeowner money to fix the issue.
