Effective protections should be common sense, and I have a strong hope that common sense will prevail in the much needed slicing and dicing to come.

Overall, I view this as a positive with a leaner and meaner government for all of America in a few years.

I don't know how the elimination of CFPB would impact real estate. But at this point in time, there is no knowledge that it will be eliminated or changed, just that it will be looked at. I think it's a great idea to look at everything our government does and eliminate waste/duplication/etc. Only time will tell how these particular organizations are impacted.

It seems that there are way too many entities that just exist to exist and likely need to go away.  There are also way too many rules and regulations.

Dodd Frank was a well intentioned overreaction.
Maybe it can be improved. I don't think that would hurt the real estate market, but help it.

Considering the quality of some lenders I have seen in recent years, and how they have negatively affected some of the real estate transactions I've seen . . . change may be progress.

I do not know what the CFPB has done, like NAR, it is a mystery. We can survive without both. Time will tell what DOGE does:) Katina

Revise regulations, eliminate the waste and constrict the size while increasing efficiency. It's the common sense way! 

Back to "buyer beware, consumer beware". 

The more glut removed from the Gov-Mint, the better for We the People who have been fleeced for too long by corruption.

Our government has people, who watch people who watch them called duplicate government in multiple departments accumulated over the years. One department, whatever it is, if run well & does THEIR job is sufficient

All of us will be following the actions of the new administration. 

Why ask a question related to a link to foxbusiness/politics if you dont want any political answers, or is it that you do not want any dissenting answers?

In my opinion, getting rid of it will have little effect on our industry. Am excited to see the slimming down of government expenditures when DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) is implemented.

The CFPB (aka "Mortgage Police") was a great idea to implement.  The problem was/is that they were/are not properly regulated. On multiple occasions, the CFPB would target a Lender, levy a humongous fine, and then increase the fine if the Lender didn't immediately pay. The lack of proper "due process" was a common complaint among Lenders.  Quite frankly, it felt more like mobster collection tactics than government mandated enforcement.

While policing the mortgage industry should continue to be a priority, there is a much better way to conduct this scrutiny. 

Maybe title companies will be able to help sponsor events.  That would be great for associations.

Personally, I want to see the FED abolished and law to prevent it from ever returning.  The vast majority of our problems are because of them.

Just as a fact- the politicians have been trying to kill CFPB for years now- so I think it will be killed. That said- the concept of the CFPB was important and necessary. The consumer has very limited ability to challenge financial institutions- essentially it's an army of lawyers and layers of administrative customer support lines vs. the individual- a real world David vs. Goliath. I have a finance degree and worked with really exotic financial derivative products and I even worked with the regulatory division of an exchange- but I can promise you that if there were a dispute - and I knew I was right, and the firm argued against me- the only way to win is to sue- which is expensive and time consuming. Without real consumer watchdogs- the consumer is at a massive disadvantage. I see the loss as a huge win for the corrupt and greedy. There is a lot of poor regulations built into the system- but outright eliminating these agencies is not the answer. 

It's a shame that it's been very ineffective. It's lead could be spread out in too many directions & goals. Ripping off the public is a big take on.

Well I tend to think there is overkill within so many programs and departments and that's not politico it's simply 'what is' what I've experienced over the years. Doge away kids. Bring those tax dollars way down. Now who isn't for that?  Oh wait......no I want to pay more taxes.  Right....

I imagine there may be new groups formed that are more effective and less wasteful. 

I don't think they do anything that couldn't be handled by people already at the FTC.  I'm a fan of smaller government.
