There is an expectation of participation (blogging or commenting), but sabbaticals are allowed, with some Ambassadors leaving and returning periodically.   We have reviewed Ambassador status participation occasionally and removed the orange badge from long term non-participants.  The current roster is down to 41, a significant reduction from over 100 a few years back.

    I remember getting the phone call from Kerrie.  "Hi, Fred... Bob (Stewart) and I were talking, we want you to be an Ambassador for ActiveRain!"

    What a great honor.  Of course I accepted.

    I do not blog as often as I once did, but I am still very much alive on ActiveRain... especially on this Q&A Board, and to answer emails from ActiveRainers. 

     One of the fun things about being an Ambassador is getting an inquiry from a newbie (or sometimes an oldie), who has questions about ActiveRain.  

    As Anna "Banana" Kruchten said, being an Ambassador is about the Community and the Relationships!

The ambassador badge has changed substantially but in the past it was for those being an ambassador for the platform.  I have the badge and still help where/when I can, but it's been difficult to be an ambassador with how much ownership has stopped pretending to care.
