The most satisfaction I get from closing is knowing I have served my clients and served them well; clients are happy.  Getting paid to do that is always a cause for celebration.

Pay day is the day when I assist a client on their purchase or sale and they are well satisfied. That is a happy moment and on to the next 😃 

We don’t work for free; we work for deferred pay, and when we deliver, we are compensated. In some rare cases, we we hope to avoid, we're paid even if a sale isn't consummated-because we fulfilled our agreement's terms and conditions regardless of the client's result.

We don’t earn paychecks; we’re not W-2s—we’re 1099 Independent Contractors; we are the entrepreneurial small business owners who embody the heart and soul of the American economy. While checks are nice, they are a hundred times sweeter when paired with a satisfied client who becomes our latest advocate for future referrals. Residual Advocacy is my true payday!

The by-product of my exceptional service was the commission check. As they say the journey is more important than the Inn.

I’m not sure I have it that high of a feeling. Top 3 seems really high to me, but everyone has their own feelings.

 Retainer Fees are your friend.   If it fails to close, you don't get the payday you were hoping for, but you do have some money in your hand.

   Yes I know... the way "The Industry" is set up, retainer fees are not customary.   Many, perhaps most clients will balk at the concept.  That is where salesmanship comes in!

Closing day is always the best day in real estate for everyone involved, agents, buyers, and sellers!

You know Richard - it's the happy clients with big smiles on their faces and excitement is in the air about their new home and moving on to another home!  It's never about the money, never has been for me.

It's a great thing to get paid at the end of a transaction, but for me, the wonderful feeling at closing was due to my clients. Being able to move into their first home, their last home, or being able to finally build the home of their dreams on a beautiful piece of land. The hugs. The thank yous. The staying in touch. The making friends. That's all possible because of the closing.

Paydays from clients are great, paydays when you cash in an investment property, maybe even better.

Closing day is a day for celebration for sure. Most importantly, in knowing that I've served my clients well and that they are happy. The "paycheck" is the icing on the cake! Although, we don't really earn a paycheck as we are independent contractors. 

I think all of our agents appreciate getting paid, Richard. But also they so enjoy the satisfaction in helping someone in their real estate transaction.

I think it's the triumph and relief of getting there. We all know how hard it is, more often than not.

It is always good to feel success for me and for my clients.

Ah, the sweet, sweet taste of escrow closing. Isn’t it just heavenly? I mean, let’s face it: that moment when the ink hits the paper feels like a cross between winning the lottery and scoring the last slice of pizza at a party—pure bliss! 

Now, you might wonder, is the high we get from closing deals tied to the fact that agents are basically working for free until someone signs on the dotted line? I get it, it feels a bit like being a waiter who only serves calamari to diners who’re too busy arguing over the last breadstick. But that paycheck at the end—I’m not saying it’s the only reason we do what we do, but let’s just say it sure makes the ride feel a whole lot smoother.

But, honestly, it’s not purely about the cha-ching. Sure, the amount does matter—unless you’re one of those people who thinks money can’t buy happiness. To that, I say, “Have you ever paid off student loans?” But I digress. The real euphoria of closing an escrow is the satisfaction that comes from seeing our clients happy. It’s like watching a toddler open their birthday presents—pure, unfiltered joy! 

Helping someone find their dream home or sell a property that’s been weighing on them is something special. You’re not just stacking bills; you’re stacking moments, memories, and sometimes even a hefty dose of stress relief for your clients. There’s nothing quite like seeing the relief wash over them when everything clicks into place; think of it as our industry’s version of a group hug, but with fewer awkward silences and a lot more paperwork.

So, here’s to all of us: the hard-working, relentless agents out there who sweat it out through each showing and negotiation. The paycheck’s nice and all, but watching our clients thrive? That’s the real jackpot. Keep those escrow closings coming—because when they win, we win, and that feels pretty darn good! What’s not to love about that?

The reason to carefully choose a client ...

I see it as volunteering to assist and guide our buyers and sellers, which may or may not result in a commission or closing.

It's because it puts the least amount of work on the agents.

So many times it ends up that it's a day job day for me when we close and my wife (and broker) attends the closing.  Works for everyone.

Closings are a part of the process, yet they are beginnings to another step in real estate as countless things are repeated even if they can be somewhat different.    And so, it goes. . .
