I don't believe the Leaderboard is available to the public.

I think those of us who are active here do know who is actively selling so, we naturally eliminate those 7 who aren't selling or even still members. John Q can't see the leaderboard.

For me, I'd much rather have it cleaned up. It's just going to be a LOT of work to do that and since nearly everyone working behind the scenes are volunteers, that may be awhile!!

I suspect the leaderboard is primarily designed to appeal to members' vanity (not unlike points), as I can't see any clear practical purpose for it—though I'd be glad to be proven wrong if it does serve a useful function.

Sounds like a positive reinforcement tactic to promote engagement within a competitive community. Not a bad idea, but I doubt there is significance in the eyes of the "outside world"

Since the leaderboard is not available to the public, I am not bothered by the current criteria, points obtained, pure and simple. Yes, some of the earlier heavy participants are no longer active but a quick look at the leaderboard stirs memories of the old days for many.

Good question, I don't think anyone is in charge. 

You have some interesting comments.  Likely the most relevant point is that the leaderboard is not seen by the public - membership is required.

Active members know the active members and those who have left the building but their profile remains.  

I believed an easier fix would be to star the active members as the members who come and go have evergreen posts and earned their position at that point in time. 

I also believe the members who have passed should have a heart next to their name.

In our recent weekly Zoom calls, we ran a Top of the Leaderboard from different states series and all were Active members. 

Good question. A lot of accounts on AR are not active unfortunately. And I do believe that blog posts older than 10 years or even less  should be archived. 

I see the leaderboard more as a "record book" so to speak. Only those in charge can erase history and stats. I just keep my head down and keep plowing away to get to my goal.

I don't think it really matters to the public as they can't see it.  Most of us that are fairly active know who to refer to in other states and areas.

Hi John- I look at the leaderboard on rare occasions. I"m retired and I'm sure I'm up there if for no other reason but persistence. There are many members who contributed to the platform so that it could become what it did. They may no longer be active but I would hate to see them deleted. Some kind of star or asterik could be used. 

I have to say, it was a great motivator when I first started as was the 500k points for the free account... which I busted my ass to get.  Right now I rank #136 overall, #20 in the state and have a very solid lead in my county and city as the #1 as no one else is really active there.

If I took the blogs I've been posting on my site (about 14 of them now) that are in my "Adventures in Real Estate" series, which you may have seen if you follow my business profile on FB, LI, or X, I could probably move up one and replace Karen Fiddler, Broker/Owner as the #19 spot.  But what's the point?  Plus I want that traffic going to my site so that my listings get seen.

I think it's purpose is not to help you find someone reputable and in the business.  Just look at Roy Kelly.  He's #1 overall by 2m points and hasn't posted anything real estate related in ages.  "Industry Observer" all he posts about are flowers, weather alerts, cooking recipes, and bull crap that dillutes the purpose of this site, hurts its SEO, and probably should be banned, limited, or made members only by policy.  Are we a real estate site or a cooking and horticulture site?  Why not let the Bangladeshi hooker spam back in if we're going to let the site be this diluted anyway?

A simple solution would be to eliminate the Leaderboard.

I always suggest that people check out the localism pages to see who is actively posting there.

Since the leaderboard is not accessible to the public, it doesn't matter so much.  When I look at the leaderboard, I know who I would refer to and who I wouldn't, or who is even still active in real estate or not.  When I don't know that off the top of my head, I will certainly make sure they are vetted before referring to them to anyone.  I did that recently for a referral I had in Reno, NV since I knew nobody there.  Only one agent on the first page of the leaderboard ever replied to my text message, but I didn't feel comfortable with her response, so she did not get the referral, haha.  I ended up relying upon friends/clients I already have in the area to refer me to agents they knew, whom I also vetted before ultimately referring my client to them.

I look to the leader board and do check to see who is live and who is dead.  I unfollow those who no longer are active.

Agreed, had a with Bob Stewart years ago about agents not longer being licensed still on the roster. He had no interest in a remedy.

Deceased people in my area are on the list. They did great work here in the Rain.

Actually I am satisfied with the Leader Board as it is John Meussner as I use it only to measure my own progress. The most points does not mean the best referral and is not meant to be that.

I think those positions were earned and it should be like it is.

The leader board is just a fun way to keep competitive people engaged, imho

I like having the Leaderboard. I use it for various reasons. As Debe Maxwell, CRS  said, those of us who are active know who is and who isn't.  Maybe we should use it more to reconnect with those who have fallen off.

It's a place I look for referral sources, but I can easily figure out who is still in the business by searching for them on other sources if they aren't active here.
