Friday Flags Visible from the Highway in Waterbury CTThe center of Waterbury CT is traversed by 2 highways and caution is necessary as there are always distractions. As one rounds a curve in the highway there sits the oldest hospital in Waterbury, St Marrys hospital. At the farthest end of the building is an island and center to that island is our flag.It stands tall with the adjacent flags of the State of CT and the company that operates the hospital. The bridge behind it is the roadway that traverses the highway at that section of roadway.I am happy that I found a few extra minutes to circle back and take the photo as the day was perfect for it.Friday Flags Visible from the Highway in Waterbury CT

Dr. Paul McDonald and Kathleen Daniels are co-hosts for the ActionRain December challenge Acts of Kindness | Sharing Love & Joy This Holiday Season.  The theme for this holiday season challenge is “Acts of Kindness”.  There are three categories to choose from.  Share an Act of Kindness of Someone You Know.  Share One of Your Acts of Kindness.   Share an Act of Kindness that You Witnessed.  In each post:(1) Identify the Act of Kindness.  Tell us what it was. This could be anything. A donation was made. An unexpected gift you received. Volunteering at a hospital. Volunteering at an animal shelter. You get the idea. (2) Tell us how it touched your heart.  How did it impact you? Did it inspire you to do something similar? It is a story you keep sharing over and over because it impacted you ...

Today, December 1, 2023, January 1, 2024 is just 31 days away. I have been working on my executive strategic thinking and planning for the last couple of months. Now is the time to formalize the actual plan by committing this plan to writing.I do not employ the words “business planning” because a business plan is what is submitted to a bank. Its construction is not as detailed as an executive strategic thinking plan.  The key word in this planning approach is “thinking.” And I have been doing a lot of thinking. The first thought thinking process was predicated on being a Rainmaker here on Active Rain. That 2023 goal was achieved as far as points in early November. Then it was time to craft an updated bio.  To undertake that goal I hired an Active Rain Member, Marte Cliff  to bring a diffe...

Our philosophy has always been “all security is personal”. So, whether you are a front line administrator, a CISO, or a CEO, the security of your organization begins with you and your person. If you don’t have your own personal security in order, how do you expect your business data to be secured? It starts with you.People are often anxious about the security of their personal information and online accounts. Cybercriminals are finding new ways to invade your privacy which is why you need comprehensive protection to keep you safe online. Here are some protection and privacy best practices that you can use to keep your identity and sensitive information away from prying eyes and restore your faith in technology.Device ProtectionDevice protection refers to the measures you take to protect ...

PHOTO JOURNALISM by PATRICIA FEAGER, 12/1/2023The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens is where I found Paradise. The date was November 29, 2023. This is part two written on December 1, 2023 of "Where to Find Paradise in Dallas." Inspiration was waiting. Our greatest glory is not in never fallingbut in rising everytime we fall...annonymous Is there anyone not attracted to the sound and source of water? No. It wasn't raining on the day I visited the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. What you see in the photo above in falling water is just a water feature to see and hear the sound of water. In my feature photo I walked between the vibrant Red Maples to get there. Still waters can silence the heart. Falling water can draw me inward towards inspiration.  The face of this sculpture c...

El Arroyo is an iconic local spot in Austin. They make the best hand-squeezed margaritas and serve Black Angus beef tacos (along with many other Tex- Mex offerings) and have since 1975!A quirky marquee is out front on the corner of West 5th and Campbell. Every day they change their bill board with a new pun (everything imaginable).  They encourage you to submit your pun on their website and of course have permission to post them. It’s one of those “Keep Austin Weird” things that we all in Austin love! They post them on Instagram because everyone loves them. Our own Myrl Jeffcoat follows them as well as Kathy Streib and chef Endre Barath, Jr.! I also see Debe Maxwell, CRS has been following them. We all need some laughter or a chuckle each day! It's fun checking out the new pun each day. ...
