Let in the light!  By ensuring your home is well lit, you can make every room look more appealing.   Natural light is ideal because it has the added effect of making everything seem warmer and bigger.   Council plans for 2010  At their regular meeting on Monday, December 7, 2009, Airdrie City Council adopted the 2010 Operating and Capital Budget.  City taxes are anticipated to increase by 3.97 per cent, 0.4 per cent lower than last year. Based on the average home in Airdrie ($365,000), this would mean an increase of approximately $50 a year or $4.25 per month in taxes. The tax increase would come into effect on January 1, 2010. This year's budget is $68 million to provide services for citizens. The 2010 capital budget is $33 million which includes the larger buildings and road construction projects. Forty per cent of the City's revenue comes from property taxes with government grants and users fees making up the rest.  2010 budget focuses on responding to the concerns in the 2009 Cit...

Coyotes are attracted to urban areas by the easy accessibility of food, water, and shelter. The City of Airdrie is no exception. Coyotes have been seen in many areas of Airdrie and Airdrie Municipal Enforcement wants citizens to be aware of what attracts coyotes and steps they can take to protect their property and small pets. Without realizing it, citizens may be providing coyotes with a regular food source. "We want to advise citizens about the nuisance and potential hazards that coyotes can cause," says Airdrie Community Peace Officer Berry. "There have been recent reports of sightings of coyotes in urban Airdrie. There are many reasons coyotes are attracted to urban areas and being educated about why they are attracted and what hazards they can pose is important for everyone to kno...

Having spent almost 7 years this coming May 2010 in the community of THE FAIRWAYS, I can honestly say I still feel at home and enjoy my neighborhood.  Nestled alongside Airdrie's only 18 hole golf course (Woodside Golf Course) homes here are mostly two storey homes.  However the exception is along the golf course there are plenty of bungalows.  A great appeal to folks who don't want stairs anymore, or just want an executive style home. Our community has access to a Catholic school (Our Lady Queen of Peace) and a public school just steps away outside of the Fairways (Ralph McCall) both are elementary schools. On my street we have a green space with a swing and climbing gym for the little ones.  I always enjoy seeing the Mom's out with the little ones exploring the park.  Also a good gam...

I normally don't endorse a local business on a blog.  BUT there is always a FIRST time.   If you're driving through Airdrie and want a unique gift for someone or maybe pick up something for yourself.  STOP into WHERE MEMORIES ARE MADE.  Local shop owner and resident BerylAnne (BA) has a infections personality and offers up some great ideas for Holiday shopping, Baby Showers, Wedding Gifts, PURSES!!! and loads of jewerly (BLING). Located on the EASTSIDE of AIRDRIE in the Yankee Valley Shopping Centre (101, 960 Yankee Valley Blvd) there is plenty to see and do in the mall.  403-912-4343 Not only is BA a client of mine but also NOW a good Friend.  Moving here from Ft. McMurray, we met via my website.  She and her family found a home to live in, and she opened up her business in Airdrie.  M...

SO what to do?  I had a past client call me today....wants to sell a house he bought a couple of years ago.  (The market has changed and prices have come down dramatically)   OR rent it out and could I help him find GOOD renters? He kicked out his previous renters - they trashed the place.  NOW, I have a cleaning company that can certainly set the place straight again.  The owner would hire them to make the place spic n span. WHAT TO DO?  Has anyone helped a client find renters?  This is outside of my experience.  Do you charge  fee for this?  I'm open to suggestions and BE nice ( ha ha) ..I only want to help in the best way I can. A local tradition in Airdrie, is REALTOR TOUR TUESDAYS.  Our office organizes the tour, and emails the tour sheet to all the local offices in Airdrie. Each New Listing that has been loaded onto the MLS is featured on tour.  Its a nice way to see new listings to preview them for our potential buyers.  I've actually found a few homes for my buyers this way, and sold them. You can have up to 20 plus Real Estate Agents zip through a home on any given Tuesday.  Its a great way to network, find out what is happening in our market place and see some wonderful homes. Something I see the larger cities not doing anymore....maybe due to size or the time it takes.  I think Airdrie has niche here, and offers sellers just one more bonus for selling their home. Tuesday IS our Tour Day....
