South Calgary Hospital - Seton Earlier this month, phase one of the new  South Calgary Hospital in Seton has opened its doors for the new patients. This stage includes Diagnostic Imaging and Family Medicine clinics, that will be followed later next year with the operating rooms and in-patients clinics. South Calgary Hospital in Seton will be the largest health facility in Alberta, with an estimated cost of $1.3 billion dollars. It was scheduled to open last spring, but delayed to this fall to ensure that the appropriate staffing was hired to run the facility. It is official!! VIP Cinemas are coming to Calgary!! Cineplex Entertainment has announced that the sixth VIP Cinemas in Canada is planned to open in Southeast Calgary in 2014. The new Cineplex Odeon Seton and VIP Cinemas will be located at Seton Boulevard and Deerfoot Trail, occupying more than 43,000 sq.ft and offering seats to more than 1,900 movie-lovers.  The complex will include 11 theaters: three VIP Cinemas, one Ultra AXV auditorium, and seven traditional auditoriums.   Calgary will be the second city in Alberta to offer such a premium movie-going experience after Edmonton,  the VIP Cinemas with their luxurious seating, in-seat food and beverage service, a menu with wider choices of food and appetizers, not to forget the private lounge and dedicated box office. Calgary new hospital in Seton, Southeast Calgary will not open its doors to the patients this summer!! The latest news from AHS came that the first phase of this project will start operating early this fall with neurosciences and academic family medicine clinics. While residents and health professionals are not very happy with the news, it is good to know that the construction work is already finished, and that an agreement regarding the tunnel indemnification ( the tunnel connects buildings on both sides of 45th street) has been reached between AHS and the City of Calgary. What mainly remains to be done is the installation and testing of all the equipment inside the hospital!
