The point based system covers several areas: site development, water and energy efficiency, material selection, indoor air quality and innovation of design. 3. The first LEED Canada for Homes 2009 project achieving LEED-Platinum certification was the "Discovery 3 House" in Red Deer, AB, certified in May 2009. 4. Well, not exactly, but it sure feels like it today.   As global markets are in turmoil, the Canadian real estate market remains strong and solid.  Recent stats have all pointed to month after month increases in prices in all markets coast to coast.  Following on the heels of more positive market news the Federal Goverment today acted to stamp some of the life out of the market.   This morning, Federal Finance Minister Jim Flaherty announced prudent changes to mortgage insurance rules intended to come into force on April 19, 2010. Google Streetview is now in Lethbridge!   As of today you can log onto Google streetview and navigate around the streets of my little city, Lethbridge.  This is a pretty cool thing as formerly only large US cities were available and I thought it would never come to our part of the world.    Now here is the coolest thing about Google Streetview.  I traveled up and down the main roads, then went past a few of the homes of people I know, then as I was travelling down the street towards my own neighborhood, THERE I WAS!   Seriously, right there caught on streetview is me driving my silver Ford suv and turning the corner right by my house.  It took me a while to figure out how to zoom in on the image, but it is my truck for sure.  Check this out, I am so amazed and excited, you have to see t... 02/09/2010

I just listed this great Lethbridge half duplex and wanted to get it syndicated out to my blog and various websites tonight.   The property is located at 2430 - 19 Street North, Lethbridge.  This locations is excellent.  The home is surrounded by nice single family homes, right close to the park, and within walking distance of transportation and shopping.  This is a great neighborhood and there is virtually no traffic on the street out front.  A great place for a young family to live.   The home itself has had several upgrades recently.  The roof, windows, furnace, and hot water tank have all been upgraded or replaced.  Interior flooring and paint have also been upgraded.  There are still a few small cosmetics to do, but nothing that a home handyman couldn't take care of and build thems... 01/31/2010

Lethbridge Real Estate - Manufactured Homes Another short video I made, showing a local Lethbridge manufactured home dealer.  Here in Lethbridge we are fortunate to have 2 large manufacturers of prefabricated homes and several dealers who sell them.  These manufactured homes have come a long way from the days that they were referred to as 'trailers' or 'mobile homes'.   These Lethbridge homes are now build in a climate controlled indoor factory to the same construction standards as a site built home.  Many of the floor plans resemble those of local Lethbridge new home builders, with many of them designed to be set on full basements.   Lethbridge mortgage financing is also much easier to secure on these properties than it was in the past.  This has been a welcome change and made these pr... 01/13/2010

Lethbridge real estate - Coulee Creek subdivision       In my ongoing picture and video series of various neighborhoods in Lethbridge.  This is a pic of the entrance to Coulee Creek.  For those who do not live around here, the name probably sounds pretty weird.  A "coulee" is the name given to the valley through which a river flows.  This coulee valley was formed many years ago when the rivers where hundreds of times larger and eroded a much wider and deeper path.   In Southern Alberta, the coulees provide a break from the flat prairie landscape.  They are not only scenic, but also home to much wildlife.  Lethbridge real estate that is built on, near, or with a view of coulees now has some intrinsic value.   The Coulee Creek subdivision is one of the newest in Lethbridge.  It features b... 01/12/2010

Lethbridge Real Estate - Fairmont Villas adult living condos Just a quick video for my blog from the entrance to Fairmont Villas condo complex.  These are adult living condos located in the Fairmont Park subdivision in South Lethbridge, Alberta.  These condos are very nice, half of them backing onto the lake.  These condos featured attached parking garages, full basements, and modern bright construction.    The complex is walled and gated with a security gate and has neighborhood watch security as well.  The location of these condos is fantastic because of the proximity being built right no the shore of Fairmont Lake, but also because it is a very short walk to commercial development such as grocery stores, restaurants, and banking.  A great place for seniors to retire to and spend thei... 01/10/2010
