ALASKA The Last Frontier by Robert Swetz Growing up in the Midwest surrounded by 10,000 lakes I always dreamed of going to Alaska. I can't even remember how many times I would say to family and friends, I am going to go to Alaska some day.One day my friend that owned a company I was working for said, Bob we are tired of you always saying your going to Alaska. So back in 2001 I purchased a 3 foot x 6 foot map of Alaska for about $80 dollars and put it on the wall of my home. As I looked at this map of Alaska that covered the whole wall I would say to myself "I will be going to Alaska soon."In fall of 2001 I had the chance to go with believe it or not, a friend of the boss that kept telling me he was tired of me always talking about going. We flew up to Alaska, rented a car and drove 1500 ...

Guess where Robert Vegas Bob Swetz is headed?  Robert Swetz just finished booking his flight and rental car for his next visit to beautiful Alaska. Because I booked one month in advance I got a smoking deal on airfare for $404 dollars round trip in June and $45 dollars per day on the rental car.  And because I own several properties in Alaska the trip will be a total write off. Property owners can write off visits to properties twice per year anywhere around the world.  I will be bringing my cameras and maybe my HD video camera, not real sure about the video camera because it's so big and I will be only staying 2 weeks.  So for all my friends and associates at the ActiveRain network, prepare yourselves for some (new) beautiful, fun, exciting photographs coming soon from Robert Swetz in...

Want to Live Longer ... Great Ways to Relax Living in big cities filled with traffic, people, fast passed and high technology, some of us have forgotten how to relax or lost our ways when it comes to creating free time for ourselves.Like going for a drive in the country and away from traffic for 1-2 hours per day. When is the last time you went for a nice long walk? If your not disabled walking is a great way to relax and shed your self from all the hustle and bustle.  How about reading a book, many books can fill our minds with knowledge. In fact this friend of mine that reads a lot suggested I go to the book store and pick up 5 books and switch off reading them everyday. Reading is a great way to relax and I'm not talking about reading on your cell phone or note ...    And here comes...

Purchasing Real Estate in Alaska by Robert SwetzMy first visit to Alaska was back in 2001 and I have been living and traveling back and forth to Alaska from the Lower 48 for around 4 years now.I have traveled all over the USA and other parts of the world and I have yet to find a place as quiet and beautiful as Alaska.Northern California, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Oregon, Utah, Minnesota and other states have come close to the beauty Alaska has to offer but not quite as quiet and or serene. I am working purchasing yet my second piece of real estate within the Last Frontier in April 2018.Sure the winters are long and the temperatures cooler and cold, but I don't have to live and or stay in Alaska during the winters. And many others that are retired and or close to my age don't stay in Alas...

Investment Projects by Robert Vegas Bob Swetz Robert Vegas Bob Swetz and several friends and associates have been working on some Investment Projects for quite some time. One of these projects consist of purchasing run down homes in Las Vegas and Henderson Nevada. Then renovating these homes into rental properties for income producing homes. The second investment project would be to start building homes in Anchorage and learn the process with another friend of mine. Once learned obtain my own contractors license, purchase vacant land in Homer and other areas of Alaska and build homes. Some may say how can Vegas Bob be in two places at once? Easy, spend the warmer months in Alaska building homes and the colder months of the year in Las Vegas purchasing and renting homes. WIN-WIN SITUATION

Staying Possitive With all the natural disasters and bad news around the world it is hard to stay positive.I have been hanging in there and doing my best not to watch the news and be around negative people. For the last 3 years I have been traveling to Alaska, taking in the beauty and spending time with my wife. The troubles around the United States and around the world have convinced me into purchasing a summer home in Alaska for retirement. And around winter time I can have another residence in a city and state with warmer climates.Have a wonderful week ahead and stay positive and spread the Love ;o)

Beluga Lake Homer Alaska by Robert Swetz 9/1/2016 Robert Swetz would love to have a pilots license in Alaska With all the airplanes in the state of Alaska and all the pilots that use their airplanes for business and tour guides and pleasure, Vegas Bob would love to have a pilots license. It is so much easier to obtain a pilots license in Alaska vs in The Lower 48 so the thought has crossed Vegas Bob's mind many times. With all the vast land of Alaska it would be totally amazing to be able to fly to areas that cars and boats can't travel to.The land mass of Alaska is so large that it would take approx 3 states of Texas to fill it, and Texas is a large state. I do remember locals talking about how much of the state of Alaska can be seen by car, boat, airplane, dog sleds and snow machines. ...

Homer Alaska by Robert Swetz 8/30/2016 Bald Eagles from Homer Alaska by Robert Swetz The day after fishing for halibut we took a drive once again out to Homer Spit to pick up our fish that had been processed and frozen. While we we driving back there were bald eagles every where perched up on telephone poles and the tops of buildings. I pulled over the car and quietly grabbed my camera and rolled down the window to capture this photo of two bald eagles. Now these eagles might not look very big in the photo but these two birds were HUGE.Later on in the day we took a drive up on Skyline Ridge to capture this great photo over looking Homer and the thin land stretching out is Homer Spit, and what they call the "End of the Road" Homer Alaska by Robert Swetz 8/30/2016

Homer Alaska by Robert Swetz 8/30/2016 Waiting for that "Perfect Moment in Time" by Robert Swetz As photographers we are always looking for that "Perfect Moment in Time"That one great shot. The one photograph that stands out better than all the rest. The photograph where everyone says "wow what a great shot" ...Well as a photographer we are always searching for that "Perfect Moment in Time", the one photograph that we feel is the best of the best! But what I have found over the many years as a photographer is some of our most liked photographs by others are not our perfect shots.Everyone views scenery, people and or things that are photographed in many different ways, different perspectives and different opinions of beauty and the "Perfect Moment in Time".Well without a doubt as this man...

Homer Alaska by Robert Swetz 8/29/2016 Happy Labor Day from Homer Alaska Hello everyone ... Vegas Bob and family just want to wish everyone a wonderful Labor Day!I have been traveling all through Alaska now for the last 2 years from Homer, Anchorage, Fairbanks, Hope, Wasilla, Palmer, Seward, Kenai, Girdwood and other towns and one of my favorite places in Alaska is HOMER because it's at the end of the road. Once you get to the end of Homer Spit there is really no further you can drive except about 5 miles across the ridge over looking Homer where this photo (above) was taken and then it turns to dirt roads and ends.Homer is approx 4-5 hours south of Anchorage and really the only people that go there are people are tourists fishing, sight seeing and the locals that live there. After Sep...
