Of the 13 homes that sold, prices ranged from $115,000 for a 2 BR 1 BA on Shadesview Terrace to $615,225 for a 4 BR, 4.5 BA on Currie Way (near Samford University). If you look at JUST the number of homes that closed, January was not a good month for Real Estate sales in Homewood.  Only 9 homes actually sold and closed.  Since there are currently 306 homes on the market, you could say we have a 34 month supply of inventory!   Now having said that - all is not doom and gloom.  There are contracts on 58 properties in Homewood - 42 units in the new condo complex Hallman Hill are under contract - many going under contract in the last 2 months.  They haven't closed because the building is not complete. Once these units are completed, sales in Homewood will skyrocket compared to previous months.  Of the 9 homes that sold in January, prices ranged from $68,000 for a 3 BR 1 BA in Rosedale to $647,900 for a 4 Bedroom, 2.5 Bath in Hollywood. Part of this is seasonal and part is based on the rough economic news.  We show 15 homes closed in October ‘08 - also down from October '07 with 19 closings. The average salesprice was $217,366 with prices ranging from $108,500 for a 2 bedroom, 1 bath condo at The Hermitage to $415,000 for a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home with a carriage house in Hollywood. August sales were good, but The Real Estate market in Homewood definitely slowed in September. In September 18 homes closed, down from 32 in August and 43 in July.  The average salesprice was 284,991 which was down slightly from August, however, a year ago the average salesprice was $236,786. No condos closed this month. Sales ranged from $146,000 for a home on Berry Rd. to $578,000 for a 4 Bedroom, 4.5 Bath in Huntington Glen.  The median price was $273,525.  The supply of homes for sale has grown to 343 which represents an 19.05 month supply. Located in Jefferson County and sitting across from Shades Mountain, Homewood, Alabama, was incorporated in 1926. Homewood came into existence with the combination of Edgewood, Rosedale, and Oak Grove. Hollywood, a fourth community joined Homewood later. Like many other places across the Birmingham area on Friday nights in the fall, Homewood begins to buzz about high school football. You will find in Alabama, that high school football is a source of pride. Homewood High School in the one high school in the Homewood School System, so they want to stand tall among the surrounding communities.
