Mayor Loretta Spencer announced at a press conference held May 9, that the City of Huntsville was granted a Aa1 credit rating by Moody's Investors Service, Inc. This is the highest rating the city can achieve. conservative budgeting and sound fiscal management were cited by Moody's as the basis for this upgrade. Only a few mid-sized cities have achieved an Aa1 rating. "The benefit to Huntsville is that the interest rate on city debt is lower, so more tax revenue can be used for public services. In addition this outside evaluation can give Huntsville residents and business a high degree of confidence in the financial management of the city which helps insure stability in the services the city provides." - Denise Taylor, Director of Public Communications.

Virtual Tours can be a great way to reach buyers across the country. In Huntsville, AL we are experiencing an influx of relocating buyers due to BRAC (Base Realignment and Closure) so connecting with buyers in other states is a must. A good virtual tour can answer alot of questions the buyer may have and could possibly get you a sale....we sold a house to a couple in Phoenix, AZ who fell in love with the house while watching the Virtual Tour! Here is a nice article about Virtual Tours I found on Yahoo. Sell your Home with a Virtual Open House

As you may or may not know, Verizon Wireless broke ground on their new call center in Huntsville's very own Thornton Research Park in February.  This is the new research park with spaces priced around $50,000 per acre.  It is adjacent to I-565 in Huntsville.  It is located close to Cummings Resarch Park, the 2nd largest research park in the nation.  Verizon Wireless will join other major tenants such as Cinram, Huntsville Hospital, and DirecTV.  Located convenient to Huntsville International Airport, I-565, and Redstone Arsenal, it is expected to be a very successful venture due to the already profitable location.     Construction is set to be completed in September, but in the meantime hiring has started for the facility that is expected to have 1,300 employees when it is fully staffed...
