Robert K. Greenleaf was born in Terre Haute, Indiana back in 1904. He attended Rose Polytechnic school before transferring to Carleton College in Minnesota. He graduated with a math degree. He worked for AT&T for 38 years, taking his retirement in 1964. During his time at AT&T he participated in its first management training program. He was the originator of the world’s first corporate assessment center for the promotion of the first females and Blacks to non-menial positions. After his retirement in 1964 he founded the Center for Applied Ethics. For the next 25 years he served as a consultant to MIT, the American Foundation for Management Research and the Lily Endowment.
