Ocotillo Named after the curious southwestern desert plant Fouquira Splendens, also known as Flamingsword, Jacob's Staff or Coachwhip, Ocotillo the plant and the master planned community share a few things in common. Ocotillo the plant looks for most of the year like an arrangement of large, spiny dead sticks, but add water and a miracle occurs. The dead sticks suddenly turn a lush green as they become covered with small leaves and out of the tips grow a shooting flame of orange flowers. Ocotillo the community grew out of the desert of south Chandler in 1986 and was fed by reclaimed water. Covering 1,900 acres it now boasts 167 acres of pristine lakes, cascading waterfalls and 33 miles of shoreline. Ocotillo's internationally acclaimed golf course features more water hazards than any ot...

Could gas cost less than $3.00 a gallon?  Was it possible that gas prices have dropped below $3.00?  According to to http://www.phoenixgasprices.com/ on Wenesday, the Cobblestone at Alma School and German was selling gas at this low price.   My car was close to empty so I needed to get gas, checking the website; $2.99 was by far the lowest price in Chandler, followed by $3.09.  The great thing is that Cobblestone was on my way home.  As I approached the gas station, I could see that it was busy, and the sign did say $2.99!  After waiting for 5 minutes,  I was able to pull to the pump and confirm the $2.99/gallon price for Regular.  I happily filled up!  It seems that Cobblestone was running some promotion, which included the reduced price for gasoline....however, it was suppose to have ...

If you live in, or plan to be visiting Chandler Arizona you may want to check out the restaurant called Cork. The establishment has, yes, wine, but also is oriented to small plates. Named for the cork in wines, but also for it's own cork flood, the place is unique. The menu changes often and changes with the season. The house specialty is something called a deconstructed banana cream pie. another specialty is that a lot of the menu items are constructed around the sweet-salty premise. There are about 300 different wines on hand so there will always be something new to try. Visit their website or call 480-883-3773.

I have to say, what a cool idea.  This is one of the reasons why I just Love Chandler, Arizona.  Earlier on in the year, I wrote a blog about Chandler being named one the 100 Best Communities for Young People.  The Day of Play is a celebration of Chandler being named one of the top communities by the America'a Promise Alliance for the third time.  Pretty Cool huh?!
