The 20th Annual Ostrich Festival is finally here...at Tumbleweed Park in Chandler Arizona.  What my family likes most about the Ostrich Festival is the sense of "Family" within the community.  This event features local musical talents of the most popular bands in Arizona to national talents.  You can expect live ostrich races, ostrich-themed activities, carnival rides and games, great food, along with lots of arts and craft booths.This event kicks off this Friday evening March 7, 2008 at 4pm.  On, March 8, 2008, a local parade through downtown Chandler, then wrapping up all events on Sunday the 8th of March.  For more information please visit the Ostrich Festival's official web-site www.ostrichfestival.com

Ostrich ranching was once a prominent part of life in Chandler. The Chandler Chamber of Commerce created the Ostrich Festival in 1989 to celebrate ostriches and how important they have been for Arizona. The event is held at Tumbleweed Park (McQueen and Germann Roads in Chandler Arizona). In the early years of the festival it was held in downtown Chandler but the festival was moved in 2003 due to the redistricting of the downtown area. Elevation Chandler High Rise Condos, the abandoned shell of a building, next to Chandler Fashion Mall is on the auction block again.  You might remember that construction of this proposed hotel and high rise condominium project stopped about two years ago due to lack of sales and lack of money.  We had originally been very excited about the project because we liked the location, the design, the floor plans and the price points.  All of which mean zilch if it never gets built.  Jeff Cline, the owner of the property is reportedly working to save the deal but he has only until April 14th to do so.  We wish him the best but in today's market we bet he has a very difficult challenge ahead of him.  Good luck Mr. Cline.Technorati Tags: elevation chandler,chandler high rise,chandler condominium...

I couldn't help but want to brag about the article I read about Chandler, Arizona a few weeks ago...The City of Chandler was named one of the best places in America for the young people to live.  For the third consecutve year in a row, the America's Promise Alliance awarded the Coalition for Chandler Youth with this title:  "100 Best Communities for Young People."  Now I guess I am biased since my husband and I have lived here for the last 10 years along with our two children and golden retriver.  But when the article went on to say Chandler was recognized for their commitment to the youth, and providing a healthy, safe and caring environment, I couldn't disagree with them.  Chandler has so much to offer.  My favorites are the monthly Downtown Chandler Artwalk.  This happens once a mont...
