Page Springs got it's name from the Page family, who were early settlers in the area.  But the name Cornville has a more colorful folklore attached to it. Nobody can say with any degree of certainty how Cornville got it's name.  One yarn is that there was a family named Cohn and the post office was to be named after them.  When the paperwork came back from Washington DC, they had misread it and named it "Cornville".  The problem with that story is that there was no one documented in the 1880 census that had that name.  The closest name was "Cone". Mr. Cone and Mr. Houghton had purchased a homestead which is now Page Springs. Another story points to James Dunning Tewksbury who was born in Cornvile, Maine in 1823.  The Tewksbury's were involved in a range war which had the cattle ranch...

One thing I definitely love about living in the Sedona Verde Valley area is the absolute ease with which one can find a trail with nobody in sight for miles and miles and just leave the everyday world behind. These photos were taken early in the morning. I had forgotten my camera but had my trusty BlackBerry. The trail is easily accessed from the golf communities at Verde Santa Fe in Cornville AZ, and is just one of many in the area that offer access to literally hundreds of acres of National Forest Service Land surrounding this Master Planned community in Northern Arizona. The location is very convenient to all that Sedona and the Verde Valley have to offer: 15 minutes to West Sedona, 5 minutes to Cottonwood AZ, about an hour to Flagstaff and Prescott, and an hour and a half to North S...

Due to the hard work of the Cornville Community Association, approval was secured from Yavapai officials for Page Springs Road to be designated as a state historic road.  The designation opens up opportunities for grant funding.  The only other road in the state with this designation is a piece of Route 66 in Mohave County.  Thanks Cornville Community Association for all your hard work!!!
