Lake Havasu City will soon have a new drag strip and dirt bike track to add to the many recreational opportunities that abound in the area.  Nearly everyone wants the addition and is happy that it has passed city council.  City council members unanimously approved the opportunity to add a drag strip and dirt bike track to the area.  This will bring even more entertainment and economic development to Lake Havasu.  It's events like this that help recreation towns like ours thrive. This addition will be added to the SARA Park Master Plan, which will also include nine softball and youth baseball fields and six multipurpose fields that will not need new revisions.  The SARA Park Master Plan was approved by the City Council in September 2005.  The drag strip and dirt bike track will definite...

As summer nears to an end, the boating crowd often thinks that Lake Havasu just shuts down. We drain the lake, turn off all the lights and padlock the doors. Anything could be further than the truth. One of the aspects of Lake Havasu I like best is that we have two distinct seasons - HOT and not hot! Now personally, I don't really enjoy when it is 115° during the day and dipping to 108° during the 'cooler' evening hours. I know, there are a lot of people who love it, but I just don't like the feeling that I about ready to combust at any minute. During the summer, activities pretty much revolve around the lake or pools. There is no wandering the streets on a mid-week afternoon stroll. There is no 'let's sit on the patio and enjoy the nice weather' conversations. Most people will try to ...

Recent plans for the Nautical Beachfront Resort may be exactly what Lake Havasu City needs.  The resort has unveiled a brand-new multiple-phase, 41,000 sq ft master plan that will add a beach club destination with a resort-style pool, new conference center, 180 new units, new fitness facility, restaurant / bar, 200 dry boat storage units and other amenities.  And responses for this project have been overwhelmingly positive.  The city and its residents have been waiting for a first-class resort destination on the island for quite some time.  This new addition will also help promote tourism, which will make Lake Havasu City even more of a premier vacation destination. Demolition has already begun, trees and shrubbery are being removed and the official groundbreaking will be soon.  Althoug...

Lake Havasu City's Thunderbolt Middle School does it again.  They are the only one of nine local schools to receive and retain the state's highest academic label of top achievement.  Out of nine schools across the Lake Havasu Unified School District, Thunderbolt Middle School has once again received an "excelling" label, which is based on student's state exam scores. Of the five elementary schools in the district to receive the "excelling" label last year, all are now "high performing" schools.  Havasupai Elementary was the only school to raise their academic status over the year.  Havasupai was a "performing plus" school last year; this year it has been recognized as a "high performing" school. This is excellent news for families with children who are seeking to relocate to a community...

Buying green homes in Lake Havasu City real estate is becoming more popular than ever before.  Green building began as a buzzword just a few years ago. However, green building has transformed today's real estate industry around the globe.  Many real estate agents are earning their "Green Designation" through an NAR designation program.  It's a groundbreaking education course that gives agents and builders vital training, information and support when they are seeking to advance their business skills.  It's also helping professionals to raise awareness of the environmental impact of residential and commercial real estate. Established communities in Lake Havasu City that have green homes clearly show a real estate market advantage compared to traditionally built homes.  This advantage show...
