CNBC today ran an article titled “High-End Home Sales Getting Boost From Low ‘Jumbo’ Rates.” Significantly they reported that interest rates are at an all time low of 5.07 percent. In the same article, Greg McBride, senior analyst at Bankrate.com says that the banks are using their cash reserves to make the loans and that they are getting more comfortable making these loans. Also, in the same article, Walter Maloney, spokesman for the National Association of Realtors states that sales volume for homes worth more than a million across the country are up more than 35% from last year. McBride continues that the reason this is happening is that “People at the higher incomes are not so much worried about their jobs as others might be.
