Here is a Guest Post from Wendy Kendall, from Farmers' Insurance and Phoenix resident.____________________________________________________________________ On Sunday, my family and I went to City Center of City North’s final Market Festival of the season. The weather was just perfect so it was a great day to enjoy the sunshine and be outdoors at the Market Festival.  They have great vendors with very healthy vegetables, salsas, Honey Bear’s BBQ you name it—but what does my family buy?  Of course, bread, cupcakes and Kettle Corn. It starts off with the location.  The first booth we hit was Arizona Bread Company where we sampled the Cranberry Orange Bread—I have to say it was quite good and even my 5 year old liked it.  We decided to get a loaf to bring home.  In the booth next door, we me...

Last year the City of Phoenix as a enticement to the developers gave a $100 million tax giveaway in the development known as City North. This has been challenged by many parties including the Goldwater Institute,  the tax giveaway has been ruled unconstitutional. This is a good thing, many times the large developers play one city against another to see what they will get, it is never a good thing for the individual taxpayer, why should i have to help subsidize the developer, is a true capitalist society I should not have to, they get the gains take the risks. The weekend before last, CityNorth in Northeast Phoenix had its Grand Opening celebration. While the complete complex has yet to be completed, many of the shops and restaurants on High Street were unveiled. The celebration was complete with food vendors, animals from the Phoenix Zoo, live entertainment and music and more. High Street is a nice blend of chain retail stores and local boutiques in an open-air setting. Some of the stores that are already open include Chico's Gymboree, Caribbean Kids and more. For pet lovers, there is Green Bone Bakery, which serves up organic treats. The remainder of the stores should be opening soon. Dining-wise, there are a few places open already that look to be quite tasty. Anchoring one end is Ocean Prime that looks like a more contemporary Ocean Club....
