Javelinas On Parade ~ Sedona Arizona  I got the idea to revitalize this post from the post "Having Whimsy In Our World" by Kathy Streib.  Everyone should have a little whimsy in their world! Inside the Sedona Rouge Hotel & Spa is their restaurant "Reds". I like to go there with clients and my husband because it is quiet and you can conduct business easily.  Besides, the food and service are good!  Right in the hotel foyer, you can find the artwork in the featured image above. Back in 2005, Sedona decided to answer a call to Chicago's "Cows on Parade" which was established in 1999. In Chicago, you would see cows painted in different artistic ways.  I read that someone in Chicago saw a display like this in Switzerland! Here in Sedona, highway construction was about to begin so the Chambe...

Sedona and all of Arizona Pool Safety for the 4th of July! Sheri Sperry July 1, 2021 Pool Safety Sedona Arizona  Drownings in Arizona Rank Nearly Two Times National Average Pool Safety – This is a very sad fact to report but a fact that needs to be brought to the attention of those who will be at pools with children over the 4th of July.  There is a spike in drownings on this holiday likely due to the fact that adult supervision of pools may be at a minimum for various reasons. In 2016, the Arizona Department of Health and Safety (ADHS) started reporting incidents using hospitalization data. Previously, data was acquired mainly through the fire department reports. So data results from 2016 and beyond are not comparable to years prior.   Here is the link to the most recent Annual Report ...

The smoke came back. Below the sun is deep orange in and out of the dark clouds.Follow, follow the sun, and which way the wind blows, when this day is done.  Breathe, breathe, in the air.  Set your intentions.   What is the Sedona Weather Like in Spring?   Sedona Weather StatisticsApril 2021 For all stats and a look at weather in previous years, go to Sedona-Weather.com  Why Is Sedona Weather Almost Perfect?April has been nothing like March. We had a little of every temperature range as well as 7.5 inches of snow. One thing we appreciate is there is nothing hum-drum about the weather.  Maybe it was the snow but March didn't feel as warm as normal. But, as April came in, there were 11 days of 80º weather in the first 12 days! It felt like someone turned on the lightswitch and Spring was here!  It was time to take all the coverings off the plants as well as pack away the hummingbird feeder warmers.  We had no freezing temps and the lowest temperature was about 36º. for about an hour. James Dray inspired me to refresh this blog which I wrote back in 2018. See his blog "Theodore Matthew Michael Kuhn Jr." to see the reason why!I have updated the material and added an image and videos. For those who enjoy this kind of adventure, I would caution you to do some research before visiting Sedona.  Due to the influence of social media and also COVID, some jeep trails can only be accessed by permit. Trails that are open to the public can have heavy 4-wheel-drive traffic. Parking for hiking is also limited. (April 2021) --> The Broken Arrow Trail is open.  I got that confirmed by one of our Jeep "enthusiast" friends.   Broken Arrow ~ Sedona ArizonaThe 1950's Movie - Broken ArrowJames Stewart along with Jeff Chandler starred in this movie.  Many of the scenes were shot right her...

One of those restaurants has only been open to resort guests during the pandemic. The other restaurant with unparalleled and breathtaking views is Mariposa - Latin Inspired Grill.  Mariposa is currently open for dinner reservations every day except Tuesday. The hours of operation are on the website along with Guidelines and Dress Code... Yes! ...You will find an actual dress code!  More on that below.   Prior to last week, it had been well over a year since we had a meal at Mariposa, partially because of the pandemic and also because it was one of the last restaurants to open during the pandemic. Almost Speechless Sunday Morning Wake UpLate Saturday afternoon the snow clouds opened up and within a couple of hours, we had another 2.5 inches of snow that started to stick.  By 9 pm, the Milky Way started to poke through the clouds and we could see the twinkling light of distant stars throughout the universe. Even without a moon, you see the reflection on the snow-filtered earth.  By morning, the sky was virtually clear and Mother Nature had finished her painting and the sun was still below the horizon.9 Hours Later...If you hadn't seen it with your own eyes, you would not believe that in the past 2 days we had experienced almost 6 inches of snowfall. The top images were shot around 7:15 am and the bottom image was taken at 4:15 pm. The snow evaporates when the sun is out. You can s...
