Arizona State University (ASU) Football back in the AP Top 25 Congratulations to the Arizona State University (ASU) College Football team, which has re-entered the Associated Press (AP) Top 25. ASU is currently ranked number 25 in the AP poll.  Meantime, ASU is 26 votes behind Number 25 Notre Dame, in the USA Today coaches poll. The ASU Football team has a current record of 5-2 (3-1 in Pac-12 Conference games).  The Sun Devils have a one game lead in the Pac-12 South, over USC, the University of Arizona and UCLA. The largest university in the U.S. is making their campuses eco-friendliness a top priority. ASU is a university with a plan committed to run it’s facilities as green as possible. The master plan is to become carbon neutral by 2025. Carbon neutrality, or a “net zero carbon footprint,” means achieving net zero carbon emissions by balancing a measured amount of carbon released with an equivalent amount of renewable energy or offsetting by planting trees that in turn could help prevent future greenhouse gas emissions. Sales of New Homes Rise 7.9% in August -- Department of Commerce According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, sales of new homes in the U.S. rose 7.9% in August.  That represents the fastest growth since the beginning of the year.  The Commerce Department said that sales were on the increase in three of the four U.S. regions.  By region, monthly New Home Sales rose 19.6% in the Midwest, 15.3% in the South and 8.8% in the Northeast. Sales fell, however, 14.6% in the West. Yesterday was my husband's birthday and we went out for Prime Rib at one of our favorite restaurants, Monti's La Casa Viega in Tempe. Monti's is one of Arizona's best-known and best-loved eateries where, each year, more than half a million people enjoy outstanding food, great prices and attentive service. The restaurant, occupies an adobe hacienda built in 1871 and was the birthplace and early home of Senator Carl Hayden.
