Yesterday I gotta tell ya - IT WAS HOT!! Victor's house has no air and I don't think it had been cleaned (spring cleaned) in over 20 years. The carpet in Victor's bedroom was the same carpet that was there when they built the addition on to their home to accommodate him - 32 years ago!The channel 4 news was there (to see a clip go to http://www.knbc.com/news/16023070/detail.html ) The Star News showed up and so did the Pasadena Journal.  I told the Journalist from the Pasadena Journal that I'm challenging every Realtor in Pasadena and Altadena to do "something" for this family.I arrived there at 8:00am. Since I'm not very experienced with performing construction labor, I lent a hand (and a few of my muscles) to haul things out to the dumpster and to prepare Victor's room for painting.  ...

Some of you know me as the "Singing" Realtor. But, did you know that my first musical instrument was the violin?  Yes, I played that fiddle 'til the blisters became callouses AND I could never have fingernails.  When I went to music camp, though, on solo night when everyone played their instruments, I put my violin aside and played my vocal chords instead. Every summer at camp I'd get the Tweetie Bird award!OK - so enough about my singing and back to the fiddling! Tomorrow night (April 28th) at 8:00pm there will be a performance at the Coffee Gallery down the street from me. The performers will be the Quebe Sisters and they are National Champion fiddlers, Grace, Sophia and Hulda Quebe who will be performing with World Champion fiddler Joey McCenzie and bassist Drew Phelps. Drew plays th...

If you don't think your old bones can make it hiking up a 3 mile mountain trail and then hiking back down the 3 miles then now is your only chance this year to take your car almost all the way up to Echo Mountain in the hills of Altadena. After driving to the Cape of Good Hope, there will be a 1 mile hike down the railway grade to Echo Mountain where you will be able to see remnants of the Echo Mountain House and Chalet hotels, the power plant, tennis courts, observatory, zoo, section house, cable house and incline. On Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 7:30am, bring a picnic lunch and plenty of water and meet at the north end of Lake Avenue in Altadena.  Carpooling will be organized. The event should end at around 1:00. Call Brian at 562-868-8919.

This is Christmas Tree Lane in 1959. As some of you may know, I'm one of the Directors on the Board of the Christmas Tree Lane Association.  Every 2nd Wednesday of the month we meet at the Altadena Library on Santa Rosa and Mariposa.  We have 12 Board Members and only a few volunteers from the community who come and help throughout the year.  There are no "owners" of Christmas Tree Lane and the County of Los Angeles has nothing to do with keeping the Lane lit throughout the year.  Everything is accomplished through volunteer efforts.          Christmas Tree Lane is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and is designated as California Historical Landmark No. 990.  After 87 years of tree lighting, Christmas Tree Lane is in danger of becoming extinct. The lack of volunte...

It's not Christmas yet, but we know how fast a year goes by, right? In Altadena, there is a street call the Christmas Tree Lane where each year, a "Lighting Ceremony" is held in December.  Christmas Tree Lane is located between Altadena Drive and Woodbury Road on Santa Rosa Avenue. In 1886, the Woodbury Family who were the founders of Altadena planted 134 deodar trees on this lane which would lead to the entrance of the mansion which were in plan to be built. Well, the home was never built but the trees grew and grew, and "housed" the Santa Rosa Ave.  In 1920, first tree lighting event took place. Christmas Tree Lane is listed in the national Register of Historic Places, and California Historic Landmakr No. 990.The Christmas Tree Lane Association, a non profit group, has worked with dedic...

Do you trust the media? Do you trust your friends and families to help you out on your decision? If you see that a home has 75% of what you like/need, a good value, good price, ...

I recently wrote about the San Gabriel Mountains and Janes Village in Altadena, CA.  Pictures obviously speaks more than thousands of words, so here are few pictures of my neighborhood, San Grabriel Mountain and the cottages located in Janes Village.  Altadena is minutes from Old Town Pasadena, very fashionable area with new condo & shopping/retail stores.  Being in Altadena, you can enjoy the quiet, nature, and a bit rusticness.  And if you want the city life, it's 5 or so minutes away!Beautiful Altdena - More Pictures To Come!!!

Altadena- more than a foothill mountains - yes it is!Do you like gardening? Flowers? How about azaleas and camellias? Now that spring is arriving, I see many homes being dressed up with colorful flowers.  Did you know that there is a famous nursery of growers and hybridizers of azaleas and camellias in Altadena?  Nuccio's Nurseries overlooks the San Gabriel Valley from Chaney Trail.  The nursery has been around since 1935 in Altadena.  WOW, who knew.  This special location happens to be the only remaining commercial grower in Altadena.  Go check them out if you are in the area.  Make sure to call for their operating schedule.

Beautiful Altadena.  Just north of Pasadena is a great city called Altadena.  Until the recent real estate boom, I have a feeling that many people did not know much about Altadena.  We knew it was there, just few minutes from Pasadena.  However, there are many attractive sites that makes Altadena living a joy. To begin, you have the wonderful San Gabriel Mountains.  On a clear day, it is absolutely breathtaking to see the mountains surrounding the community.  The two golf courses are also a place to be on a nice day.  Both courses are 9 holes, so you can catch up on the game without spending the whole day at the course.  There are hiking trails off Lake Ave. and Windsor Ave. (just by the NASA/JPL).  Some of the additions in the area are the development on Lincoln Blvd.  The introduction...

Dena Land?  What is or where is Dena Land you may ask?  For some of the local people, like me, as I was growing up, we would always refer to the Altadena and Pasadena area as "Dena Land".  Some of the people would say, "So, what's going on in Dena Land this weekend?"  Mind you, Old Town Pasadena didn't exist back then. But, we did have the Hastings Drive-In Theatre over on Rosemead Blvd.  It was converted to a walk-in/sit-in theatre (when 2001 A Space Odessy came out) and a few restaurants moved in and the Mann's Theatre (now Trader Joe's) was there boasting multiple theatres. Oh, how times change and now there's so much to do -with so little time! Here are some things not to be missed for the rest of December!Throughout December-Check out www.twin-palms.com for nightly entertainment in...
