Wells Fargo Forecloses on Snoopy What is the World Coming To?   Last month the foreclosure crisis took a famous victim, Snoopy. Apparently, even Snoopy isn't immune to foreclosure which Wells Fargo proved when it foreclosed on Costa Mesa's famous Snoopy House. For nearly 45 years, Jim Jordan has created a Christmas miracle in his front yard and delighted children of all ages with his Snoopy house display which he began when he was only 14 years old, but this year, it looks like Snoopy won't be there nor will the rest of the Peanuts' Gang.   This year, the 80,000 who make their annual trek to the Snoopy House to visit with Snoop and the Gang and take pictures with Santa are doomed to disappointment. For decades I have enjoyed Snoopy house, and just a week ago   my son asked when we would...

Here’s a fact you need to understand up front:  Never attempt to price your home based on what you “want or need” to net out of the proceeds.         If you spent $40,000 on a remodeling job that will only increase your homes value $30,000, you will lose $10,000.  If you paid too much when you bought your home, and need to sell it within a year or two of buying it, chances are (unless your market is hot) you will lose money on your net proceeds.         I’ve seen these sad situations, but there’s little anyone can do about it.   Never Confuse The Difference Between Cost And VALUE         That said, however, you DO need to understand what your net proceeds will be from a sale of your home.  And to calculate them, you need to consider five factors.   1.      Take the gross listing price...

City of Costa Mesa helps save 4-decade holiday tradition! COSTA MESA, CALIF.—There will be a Charlie Brown Christmas in Costa Mesa after all this year, thanks to a deal struck today by the City and Jim Jordan, whose family for 44 years has put up an elaborate holiday display at their Eastside home using Peanuts cartoon characters. Jordan’s residential property had been recently foreclosed on, leaving the future of the Peanuts gang in jeopardy. Jordan said the attraction draws more than 80,000 visitors each year. The Peanuts display—including a stage for Santa—will be moved to the lawn outside of City Hall, allowing Costa Mesans and others throughout Orange County to enjoy the popular holiday tradition. Jordan and his crew of volunteers will begin setting up the series of holiday scenes...

This would have been the 45th year the "Snoopy House" would have been decorated for Christmas. I grew up around the corner and always knew Christmas was near when the house on Santa Ana Ave. was building set for the Peanuts Christmas display. This year driving by on Thanksgiving weekend, there was something missing. There were not even a sign of any activity that Snoopy was coming to town. Puzzled and confused, I was wondering what was happening. I knew the house was a rental for the past couple of years and thought maybe some sort of dispute had delayed the set-up of the Christmas display. My friend, Leann Montiel then posted the news article from the Daily Pilot in Facebook. I was shocked, saddened and upset by the news that the house had been foreclosed on and was returned to the ...

The houses in Costa Mesa are akin to what is commonly believed about snowflakes “no two are alike.”  There are many different “neighborhoods” and myriad home styles to go along with these different neighborhoods.  I struggle to think how many homes in Costa Mesa can actually be considered in their original condition.  There cannot be many, that is for sure. With all of these different home styles and different phases of renovation, from the most basic bathroom upgrade to the full-fledged tear down, it is important to get a qualified home inspection done to help you determine the age of some of these alterations  and the execution them.  The beauty of homes in Costa Mesa is that a good number of them have crawl spaces under the house and this is where a lot of information will be revealed...

Costa Mesa Real Estate - Eastside Costa Mesa Homes   Eastside Costa Mesa is a charming area of Costa Mesa which borders Newport Beach, and, as a result, tends to have higher property values than some other areas of the city. It is bounded by Irvine Boulevard on the east, Newport Boulevard on the west, 15th Street on the south and Mesa Drive on the north.   Most of the original lots in Eastside Costa Mesa are around 10,000 square feet, a large size lot in Orange County, which allows for space to expand smaller, older homes if desired.   Eastside Costa Mesa is known for wide streets and lovely, mature trees, homes with picket fences and an eclectic mix of different types of homes.   The current real estate market report for Eastside Costa Mesa Real Estate is below:     Eastside Costa Mesa...

Costa Mesa Real Estate News - Costa Mesa Market Report   Originally no more than a way station built by Spanish missionaries, Costa Mesa's first real estate development occurred in the 1880s. This failed to prosper, but Costa Mesa has thrived.   Long time residents may remember when the area was called Fairview and Paularino, but today, the city is a focal point in Orange County with the Orange County Performing Arts Center, South Coast Repertory Theatre and South Coast Plaza as major drawing points. It is hard to believe that Costa Mesa was once nicknamed "Goat Hill" because of its rural flavor. The modern day Costa Mesa real estate market began as beach bungalows just minutes from the ocean. Even then, Costa Mesa, bordering Newport Beach, captured the best of Newport Beach living at a...
