Waiting for the Orange County Fair - Silent Saturday       The Orange County Fair will start in less than a week.  The ferris wheel has been up for several weeks, and every time we drive by, my son wants to know when will it open, and when are we going. I think he's ready for some funnel cake, a few rides and several games.

ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT IN ORANGE COUNTY CALIFORNIA REAL ESTATE In spite of the real estate roller coaster of the last few years, homeownership remains the bedrock of financial and familial security.  Having a long-term investment that provides the satisfaction and pride of ownership beats just about anything else you can do with your savings. When the market exploded several years ago, the expectations of many consumers grew too high, too fast.  Homes became more commodities than investments, and now markets and attitudes have been forced to realign. Conditions today make it an opportune time to secure your future.  Home prices and interest rates are still low, and tax advantages are abundant.  You just have to get past all the negativity in the media.  All the bad news has drained consum...

Costa Mesa Real Estate Team Create's a Comfort Zone For Their Homesellers! While experts may debate the value of holding an open house, the agents at Team Weichman do not! Your home may be a good candidate for this marketing tool.  If your agent offers to show off your home on a Sunday afternoon, apply some elbow grease and take advantage of the opportunity. Obviously, get things tidy inside and out.  Give all of your countertops a spacious feel by hiding your toiletries under the sink in the bathroom, and by stashing your kitchen appliances in the cabinets.  Clean and clear make a great impression.  Also remove photographs, appointment cards, school artwork, etc. from the refrigerator and other areas of the house.  Yes, it's your home, but you want buyers to picture it as their home, ...

Costa Mesa Animal Control, in partnership with the Orange County Humane Society (OCHS), will be conducting two Dog Licensing Clinics. The clinics will be on Friday, July 8th (4 p.m. to 8 p.m.) and Saturday, July 9th (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) in the greenbelt area between the Police Department (99 Fair Drive) and City Hall. The purpose of the clinics is to promote dog licensing and provide the community with a convenient opportunity to license their dogs. The licensing of dogs is important because: If a dog is found, the license indicates the dog has an owner and isn't a stray. In the event a dog is found and/or injured, the license can be used to notifying the owner. Rabies can be a fatal disease. Licensed dogs are required to be vaccinated to fight the disease. There are responsibilities t...

Costa Mesa Fireworks Rules and Regulations   For 2011, the Costa Mesa City Council has agreed that fireworks may be sold one day earlier than last year and that Costa Mesa fireworks can be set off for the weekend before Fourth of July.   Fireworks may be sold from 9pm on June 30, 2011 through the end of day on July 4, 2011. Another big change is that fireworks may be set off in Costa Mesa from 4pm to 10pm each night from July 1 through July 4. The City Council believed that this would allow more Costa Mesa fireworks to be sold which should help different youth programs including sports organizations to raise additional funds to support the programs. The Costa Mesa City Council warns that this is a test case, and if too many problems result from the loosening of restrictions, they will r...

How Important is it to Price Your Costa Mesa Home Properly? You may have heard that one of the most important things you can do is price your Costa Mesa home properly, but you're probably wondering if you can't squeeze a dollar or ten thousand more out of your home. This can't possibly be a bad thing can it? There are a few problems with this idea. 1. The Honey Moon Period Homes are most likely to sell in the first 30-60 days for the highest amount of money. This is the time when the most number of people are likely to come through and view your house. The active buyers are keeping an eye on every new Costa Mesa home that comes on the market, and if yours is priced well, looks good on line and is effectively marketed, you should see a flurry of activity. If your Costa Mesa home is well-...

Victoria Elementary Spring Fling Tonight was Victoria Elementary's annual Spring Fling, and what fun it was.   This annual event is a fund raiser for the Victoria Elementary and everybody participates - the students, teachers, parents and staff. There are lots of games, the bounce house obstacle course, temporary tattoos, amazing food, pretty much everything needed for an afternoon of fun with the kids.     Victoria Elementary Spring Fling is a great place to grab dinner. My favorite is the yummy, authentic carne asada tacos, rice and beans, but the kids seem to prefer the perennial favorite of hot dogs and chips. Regardless, once you've had dinner, you can work some of it off with hula hooping contests and cake walks (or perhaps put it back on if you win one of the confections). All in...

THE MARKET WHERE YOU MOVE, REAL ESTATE BUYING ADVICE As we see some market recovery, the scales become a little more balanced between buyers and sellers.  However, if you're a buyer moving out of the area, local conditions here aren't relevant.  You need to investigate whether it's still a strong buyer’s market in the area where you are relocating. If long listing times and price reductions are prevalent, then you have the luxury of exercising some of the following options when you search and eventually make an offer.  First of all, you needn't jump at the first suitable home you find, because inventory will be high and price reductions open to discussion. When you finally decide to make an offer, play the time card to your advantage, asking for a speedy seller response, perhaps withi...
