Pensive Pre Schooler - Friday Fotos       My family has generally found that it is easier to allow me to take photos without arguing about it. However, that does not always mean I get the most joyous of expressions as proven here when the little one just wants to play at California Elementary School not pose.

Costa Mesa Real Estate News - Costa Mesa Market Report Originally no more than a way station built by Spanish missionaries, Costa Mesa's first real estate development occurred in the 1880s. This failed to prosper, but Costa Mesa has thrived. Long time residents may remember when the area was called Fairview and Paularino, but today, the city is a focal point in Orange County with the Orange County Performing Arts Center, South Coast Repertory Theatre and South Coast Plaza as major drawing points. It is hard to believe that Costa Mesa was once nicknamed "Goat Hill" because of its rural flavor. The modern day Costa Mesa real estate market began as beach bungalows just minutes from the ocean. Even then, Costa Mesa, bordering Newport Beach, captured the best of Newport Beach living at a fra...

Multiple Choice In Costa Mesa California Real Estate!   If you're looking for a bargain and considering purchasing a foreclosure, you'll first have to decide what kind of foreclosed property to pursue.  The three categories are Pre-Foreclosure, Sherriff's Auction, and Repossession (or a bank-owned REO). Pre-foreclosures are in the process, but have yet to be auctioned.  Your offer will have to be negotiated with the lender as well as the owner, which makes the deal complicated and slow.  Prices also tend to be highest in this category of foreclosures. The lowest prices are found on properties that are being auctioned, but inspections are usually unavailable for these homes, and the transaction can get very sticky.  These foreclosures are often best left to contractors, investors and dev...

Snoopy House - Costa Mesa - A Christmas Extravaganza  If you have been to the Newport Beach Boat Parade and toured the decorated houses of Balboa Island, and are still feeling like something is missing in your Christmas festivities, we have one more local tradition that should not be missed. Located at 2269 Santa Ana Avenue in Costa Mesa, the Snoopy House is a free event that has been helping Costa Mesa celebrate Christmas for over 40 years. Jim Jordan began creating the extravaganza when he was 16 years old in 1966 and has continued the tradition since that time. There was some question a few years back about whether it would continue after the death of his mother, but fortunately for all of us who have enjoyed it for decades and for the children and even those new to the area, it cont...

PRICING UNDER PRESSURE IN COSTA MESA REAL ESTATE Deciding on an asking price for your home is challenging enough these days, but you need specific pricing strategies for particular scenarios, especially if you're under pressure to move quickly or your home isn't selling after being on the market for several months.  Here are suggestions for both situations. If you're facing a deadline due to job relocation or other reasons, then you need to price competitively, even more competitively than expected in today's market.  You'll need to list at significantly less than your competition.  Think at least 5% less.  That may seem tough to stomach, but it's better than continuing your monthly loan payments or the hassle of trying to find tenants to rent your home. If your home has been listed fo...

Costa Mesa Pumpkin Patch - Holiday Fun - Part 1   Well, in case you haven't noticed, the holiday are upon us.  I saw Christmas decorations at Home Depot this weekend, and we haven't even gotten to Halloween. If you're still wanting to focus on Halloween and are feeling the Halloween spirit, there's a great Pumpkin Patch in Costa Mesa, located on the corner of Harbor and Mesa Verde Drive East just south of Adams.  If you've driven by it in the last week or so, your kids may have pointed the pumpkin patch out to you, I know mine did - several times.   In addition to the ubiquitous pumpkins, there is a train ride along with bounce houses and inflated slides like the Titanic and King Kong.  As if that's not enough, the pumpkin patch also has a petting zoo, pony rides, and face painting.  Th...
