Are you looking to experience a little more Christmas spirit? For more than 40 years the Jordan Family has presented the Peanuts House at 2269 Santa Ana Avenue, Costa Mesa, CA which has delighted children and adults alike. Many times, both as a child and as an adult, I remember seeing this home with its incredible display of all things Peanuts. Last night, I passed by, and it seems to have gotten even better. In Lucy's Dr. is in stand, they were handing out cider; Snoopy was sitting on a bench visiting with the kids, and Santa was taking pictures with the children for free. This house embodies so much of the Christmas spirit and is up from Thanksgiving through New Year's Day. Santa will be visiting this year until December 23rd from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, so if you have never seen this ama...

Originally no more than a way station built by Spanish missionaries, Costa Mesa's first real estate development occurred in the 1880s. This failed to prosper, but Costa Mesa became an agricultural center known for apples and lima beans. Long time residents may remember when the area was called Fairview and Paularino, but today, the city is a focal point in Orange County with the Orange County Performing Arts Center, South Coast Repertory Theatre and South Coast Plaza as major drawing points. It is hard to believe that Costa Mesa was once nicknamed "Goat Hill" because of its rural flavor. The modern day Costa Mesa real estate market began as beach bungalows just minutes from the ocean. Even then, Costa Mesa, bordering Newport Beach, captured the best of Newport Beach living at a fraction...

It seem the Christmas season is in full swing.  Last weekend it was Christmas parties; next weekend will be the Newport Beach boat parade and Dylan's first birthday. But, this week was something special.  This Friday was Lil' Lighthouse Preschool's Christmas Pageant followed by Saturday at the Naple Island boat parade.  The pageant is quite an affair with 3-5 year old children singing their heart out about the true meaning of Christmas.  They dress in either festive Christmas attire or actual costumes and are taught sign language by the teachers to go with the words they sing. As always, this is an amazing affair brought to us by the combined efforts of all of the incredible teachers at this wonderful preschool and spear head by Marge Menashe who never ceases her efforts to teach our "k...

IT'S NO MYSTERY  You don't need a crystal ball to try to predict the future of the real estate market.  Every time there is a downturn, an upward trend always follows.  The best course of action is to look at the causes, and make decisions based on unbiased facts and incontestable history. As the choice of loan options grew these last few years, consumers could buy a home more easily.  Wall Street took notice of all the hot action in real estate, and investment firms were able to shift the ownership of mortgages to their managers and clients. Then about three years ago, the market began cooling, as incomes did not increase at the frantic pace that home prices did.  Investors had created an atmosphere of unrealistically high appreciation.  The perfect storm was brewing. This cycle of up...

WAKE UP FROM THE AMERICAN NIGHTMARE Effective October 1, 2008, a housing bill was passed to help both troubled borrowers and lenders.  At-risk borrowers whose loans originated between January 2005 and June 2007 may be eligible to refinance their unaffordable mortgages into low-cost, fixed-rate loans insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA). Whether current or in default, at least 31% of the borrower's monthly income must be tied to paying the mortgage debt.  Other requirements come in to play that have to do with the total debt owed and any secondary financing. Borrowers may get information from their current lender or an FHA-approved lender (found on the website for the Department of Housing and Urban Development).  Each loan will be considered for underwriting after a new ...
